I wouldn't call it a desperate move, I don't think the PSP is doing that badly. The price has only come down by £10, so it's still £30 more than the DS. This is the first price drop since launch (although the base pack launchd post-launch and is what is having its price dropped) and £15 classics is not desperate, considering PS2 platinums are at £20 and new PSP games are between £30 and £35

Desperate or not I think this is a right direction. I believe they can afford on this. PSP is more than 2 years on the market now so costs of manufacturing are much lower.

Anyway, desperate?  I don't think so!  Yes they will be wanting to get more PSP sales under their belts, but 22m WW doesn't scream of desperation to me.  Personally I reckon they have sat down and started thinking about the PSP again after dedicating way too much time on the PS3.  It's actually a drop of £20 from the previous RRP of £149.99 and the PSP was released in the UK with a pricetag of £179.99, so it's drop of £50 making it nearly 30% cheaper since it's release.

Yes it is still £30 more than the DS, but it does look a hell of alot more affordable now though, and the platinum range of games which may be around 30 games come the start of May will be only £14.99 RRP...so likely to be around £9.99 at decent retailers.

Also, don't forget that Sony are only reducing the RRP to £129.99  That doesn't mean that the cheapest PSP you can buy will be £130.  Amazon is selling them for £135 at the moment anyway, so we could see them on Amazon and play for around £110-£120.

Actually looking at the Platinum range, there is quite a few gems in there. 

Ridge Racer, Wipeout Pure, Daxter, Lumines, Tekken Resurrection, Killzone, Locoroco

Not bad if you consider for £150 you could end up with a brand new PSP and 3 games.
