A retail listing has seemingly confirmed that stealth-based shoot-‘em-up Hitman is getting a high-definition makeover.
Italian shop 16Games has listed a Hitman HD Collection for release on PlayStation 3, which contains spruced-up versions of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman 3: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money.
According to the retailer, the package will be released on October 15, just over a month before the latest game, Hitman: Absolution, hits shelves for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Now for a bit of a history lesson for the uninitiated. Silent Assassin was originally released back in 2002 for PS2, GameCube, PC and Xbox, and sees Agent 47 attempting to track down his mentor and friend, Father Vittorio. To do this however, he has to go back to his old life as a stealthy assassin and carry out various contracts for his agency.
Contacts arrived two years later for PS2, PC and Xbox, and sees players reliving various missions from Agent 47’s past via flashbacks, as our genetically-engineered assassin seemingly lies at death’s door as the game kicks off.
Finally, Blood Money hit stores in 2006 for PS2, PC, Xbox and Xbox 360, and again features flashback-style missions as former FBI Director Alexander Cayne recalls Agent 47’s bloody past to a local journalist.
