Microsoft isn't exactly known for dissembling. Their typical response is to say they do not comment on rumors, and usually leave it at that. Basically it is pretty hard to lie when you almost never deny, or comment on anything for that matter. The only time I can think of where they were really untruthful was the hardware failure rate, but that isn't all that unexpected since no company is likely to disparage their own product. Everything else is basically semantics as far as I see things.
Some may want to call the newer models of the 360 slim models, but realistically speaking they are just another upgrade rather then a real slimming down. They are eighty percent the size of earlier models, and have jettisoned the card reader while incorporating built in WIFI. The change just isn't drastic enough, and if you want to consider any decrease as a slimming down. Then shouldn't the models of PS3s without backward compatibility be deemed as slim models.
When it comes to Sony you get no arguments from me. The company is a repeat offender, and has been caught making blatant lies. The lists have been compiled, and they are in the dozens. I don't know what it is with Sony that makes the company bleed lies. Maybe the internal communication is that mismanaged, or that their spokes people are given too much latitude. Either way I wouldn't take much of what they say as gospel.
Nintendo is just plain aloof, and doesn't say anything of substance. Its kind of hard to say someone is lying when all they seem to do is mumble and exchange pleasantries. I think everyone here would be shocked beyond all belief if Nintendo developed a personality.
Anyway people believe Microsoft when they make a forthright denial, because it is not only uncharacteristic for them to do so, but on the whole they are very honest. That isn't to say they don't exaggerate some things. Which is to say they spin with the best of them. Its just there isn't any spin here. No means No.
Speaking to Sony I cannot argue with you there.
