Forums - Gaming - Tekken 6 on Wii?!

Tekken 6 is running on PS3 based arcade board, wii could NEVER run it.

You need to actually read what people write.  Nobody is going to claim Wii can run an arcade-perfect Tekken 6 because that's stupid, but if they wanted to port over the game with crappier graphics and other modifications necessary to get it to run, of course they could do it.  What you want to argue is that porting it to the Wii would result in a much inferior version, not that it couldn't be done.  Hell, someone even made GTA for the NES.

First I just want to say that I don't know if I trust the site, but I do agree will elprincipe. Wii might not get a perfect arcade port, but they could downsize the engine to fit it on Wii. One reason I can see that Namco want to do that is simply that VF5 (yes I know that it is from Sega) sold so poorly on the PS3. They might want to increase the number of systems the can sell on, giving a real multitap on Wii, xbox360 and PS3. I wont say that it will happen untill I see ign or some well known site that I can read without babbelfish.

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

namco did a very impressive job at porting the Tekken 5:Dark Ressurection to the PSP.

Of corse not arcade perfect but close enough internally (tho playing a fighting game on a handheld is torture).

Same sould be said with Wii:  It *is* possible to see Tekken 6 on Wii but no doubt it will be an inferior downgraded version compared to Arcade/PS3.

Either way I say its highly unlikely to see Tekken on Wii.  I would expect to see a 360 port if anything.

crappy old school NES games are more entertaining than next-gen games.

I think this should be taken with a medium size grain of salt. As there are plenty of articles where Namco has stated that there is 100% definately a 360/ps3 version of Beautiful Katamari but that there is no current Wii version. Though they were looking at it as a possibility as much as they were also considering a pc and ds version. So, since this part of the article is most definately bogus I would lean to all of it being bogus.

Just query for 'katamari wii' on google news to see tons of news about this rumor already.

Also, if you query tekken 6 all you find is a few articles all related to ps3. IGN as an example only has it listed as an ps3 game so far.

Ok guys. I'm gonna call a few people out in this thread, and amuse myself. (once agian, I dont really care what you think about what I say... so dont worry about defending yourself, I promise you it wont make you look better in my eyes)

Hus - PS3 is god, and nothing else matters. Microsoft and Nintendo Suck.

johnlucas - Wii is god, and gonna sell 20+ million units by the end of 2007.

shams - The graphics dont matter, but the do matter. The game could be great on the Wii, but if it's not done right it will suck. The Wii is great, but it could suck.

That Guy - Tekken is a button masher and it sucks, and I dont care.

robjoh - If you put it on the Wii it will sell amazing numbers. *hides the godfather numbers behind him*

Ok. I'm done. This is what I have gathered everyone is saying.

You hit it right on the spot, Kwaad!

I seriously don't care for Tekken. I can mash a bunch of buttons, pull off some insane move and completely pwn the other guy and make it look like i know what I'm doing.

The same goes for games like Virtua Fighter. I went on like a 10 game win streak once because no one was able to defeat my "duck-punch, duck-kick" strategy.

I dont care for Tekken's fight system. It is almost identical to the original. I wanna see more fight games like Def Jam (I hate the game, and I dont like the way they fight, move, or anything really.) But When I punch you in the gut. You hurl over. If I punch you in the shoulder, you look like you actually got hit there. I kick you in the leg, you stumble. However really the ammount of calculations to do that properly is a hell-of-a-lot. I'd say it will be done some-where this gen. (In a way I like)

In all seriousness. I dont think Tekken could add a single thing to the Wii, and I think it's sales would be less than impressive. The ammount of money it would take to make a Wii port, I'm not sure if they would be able to make that back. (as it would be more a entire new game than a port) Tekken is a Cult game almost. And it is only the Sony Fanboys who love it (for the most part)

Katamari on the Wii would be ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT ALOT bigger than anything else I can really think of. Katamari on the Wii... well... really, I cant think of how you would play it... The controls would have to be redone, yet that might make the game suck... I wonder how it would be done... hmmm. (this is a serious question, not bashing the Wii at all)

Also just to defend myself from you Wii boys out there.

There are at least 3 games I will buy with a 2007 release date.

1. Harvest Moon Wii (Yeah, this is first on the list, ask me any harvest moon questions, I could probibally answer them)
2. Mercenaries2
3. Killzone PS3

I mean there's a LOT more I'm gonna buy. But those 3 I will sell other games to get, Especially the Killzone, and Harvest Moon. If I could, I would trade my Wii for that game, but... Yeah, hard to play a Wii game without it.

Kwaad,

Did you think that the first Killzone was a great game? I only thought it was OK myself not a must buy like FF13 or MP3.

If not is it the graphics that draw you in to it? Do you think it will look like the E3 trailer maybe a little less? I own a PS3 and haven't seen anything that remotely hints it is capable of anything like the trailer. It will look good but not like what was shown in E3.

Kwaad is still excited about the tech demo.  I hope the game doesn't suck.

 Wrong.

redspear - I enjoyed the first, but it was a little overly simple in terms of... what the "game" could do. That's what a low budget game typically gets you. Killzone: Liberation is amazing, and I love it. I wanna see more killzone. I love the world.

A world where there are sprawling cities, that just keep going, drop ships being shot down slamming into skyscrapers sending them toppling down. (probibally not gonna be in the game, but this would be the first 'Future Urban War' game I have ever felt was worth spending some serious time on. I love the idea of being on city streets with tanks... and not a F*king WW2 simulator, or some other F*king war-type simulator. I want... Basically

Halo, in a MadMax world.

Killzone provides in that area.

(halo style vehicular gameplay)

That would be nice, but if it didn't do anything to change the gameplay, then it would be nothing more than just eye candy. A fighting game doesn't ahve to be tweaked to a point where it doesn't resemble the original anymore (nor should it). But new fighting games in the series should add different "wrinkles" and tweaks to the game that increase the strategy involved.

For example, besides the new guys, the only major gameplay tweak of Street Fighter 3 was the parry. Everything else essentially remained the same. However, just that one extra element greatly increased the strategy behind that game.

I'd rather see added fighting elements than just some graphical improvements. Better graphics is always nice, but not at the cost of gameplay innovation.
