I liked the demo, I will get it after a price cut. But I hope this and some PS exclusive Franchises finally die to open the way for new IPs like the Last of Us and Playstation All Stars. They should milking dead franchises and start new ones, but I guess we will have to wait until Orbis.

i want you to reread this and ask yourself "does this sound logical?"

Yes it does. Let me explain. This is a stone old franchise that is not profitable has no hype left at all, but still need a lot time and ressources to develop. But instead of trying to reviwe a dead franchise you could try to establish a new one, with the ressources you otherwise would use for the old one.

It sold ten times better than I expected it to. I've said time and time again that the game was a product of a bygone era. It may as well had been a game based on Ren a Stimpy. There's just no audience for a game like that.

could you explain to me what a "dead" franchise is?

could you also explain how and why Twisted Metal was a dead franchise before Twisted Metal PS3 came out?

and how does killing older franchises pave the way for newer franchises??

let's make this make sense, Andrew

A franchise without hype or a big fanbase is almost dead and if it turns out to be mediocre then it is dead. And Twisted Metall had no Hype, and it turned out that the fanbase was not big enough. Twisted Metall and Resistance are almost dead. And instead of trying to bring them back, the studios should focus on making new IPs. Development studios dont have unlimited ressources and most of them can just work on one title at the same time. Eat Sleep Play could have made a new IP while they where working on Twisted Metall, and establish a new profitable franchise.

Well, the online was a failure. I don't even play it online any more, because no one else does. I got half way through the story, but I doubt I'm even going to finish it. I loved the game, but I guess no one else did. :(

If this is a game you loved - I fear for the games you hate.

I wouldn't call it a failure. But Motorstorm is another story.

Maybe it can inch its way to a million after price cuts. If bundling doesn't get it there first. These sales at least show the series still has a pretty good following. Perhaps they'll put more effort in the next game.

Motorstorm sold well.

I meant Apocalypse inparticular. But the other games in the series had mass bundling.

yes, and yes

A franchise without hype or a big fanbase is almost dead and if it turns out to be mediocre then it is dead. And Twisted Metall had no Hype, and it turned out that the fanbase was not big enough

the fanbase was not big enough?? what makes you say this? Twisted Metal is basically a known franchise that sells a little over 1 million copies on average.

if you look at the old Twisted Metal games you would hopefully be aware that those games DID NOT sell over 1 mill in their 1st 3 months on the market

Twisted Metal PS3 has been out for 3 months without a holiday boost and you are saying that the fanbase "wasn't" big enough??(this is the part where i would "LMAO" but @Jay520 is right there so i'm not going to do it)

Twisted Metall and Resistance are almost dead

you are incorrect my good sir

Twisted Metal PS3 is pretty much selling no different than the other Twisted Metal games

idk what to say about Resistance but hopefully R3 will climb higher since it hasn't even been on the market for a full year yet

And instead of trying to bring them back, the studios should focus on making new IPs

you are saying this as if Resistance was brought back from the old ps1/ps2 days. Resistance is a new franchise so what do you mean bring it back?

there is nothing wrong with making 1 Twisted Metal game in a generation on a home console. it's not like they spent the whole generation making this game

Development studios dont have unlimited ressources and most of them can just work on one title at the same time. Eat Sleep Play could have made a new IP while they where working on Twisted Metall, and establish a new profitable franchise

they knew what they wanted to do.

they knew how Twisted Metal sold and they still did it so i guess there must be some profit still there
