Can't you already run Crysis on high with your current set-up. Seem to remember you posting something like that a while back. If you did, then do you really need an even better video card at the moment?

@topic,

I figured most of you would say games, but the question then is what games?  And keep in mind that I have budgeted into my normal expenses 1-2 games per month, anything not spent usually goes straight to savings and then occasionally I spoil myself during Nov or some month when things go crazy with new games.

Putting it into that context where I have budgeted for a flow of games and don't often have a chunk of cash would you guys still choose the games or would you go for the card?

I truly am up in the air right now so don't feel that your opinions aren't being heard.

Wii games I own:
Wii Play
Zelda
Metroid Prime 3
Elebits
Super Paper Mario
Zack & Wiki
Fire Emblem
Mario Strikers: Charged
The Godfather
Super Mario Galaxy
Guitar Hero 3

PC Games:

Civ 4
Tons of Civ 4 expansions =P
Crysis
Bioshock
Splinter Cell Double Agent
Gears of War
Orange Box
Call of Duty 4
Brothers in Arms Series
Overlord
Tiger Woods '07
World In Conflict

A lot more than that but ones I can remember recently off the top of my head.

PS - I don't have all my PC games on my VGC games list yet.

Crysis in XP on high runs at a very solid 30-40 FPS. Its always nice to be able to boost resolution tho since I think thats in 1280x800 iirc. I would prefer to be able to play in 1680x1050 as that is essentially the 16:10 equivalent of 1080p as well as my monitors native resolution.

So there is some use for it, but your points are extremely valid nonetheless. Its not nearly as big of an increase as it could be.

Well you can try Trauma Center if you're up for a challenge. No More Heroes and Endless Ocean come out later this month if you're interested in either of them.

Buy a DS maybe?

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Hrm, any clue what your games of interest are? I mean i've got a lot but i'm known as someone who loves all genres.

Speaking of, how are the Civ 4 expansions? I only have the first. Any good Mods out? I know the 3-D models were realling holdin those back.

I'd suggest MLB pros though, even if you warn't a sports guy. I've known people who have bought it for the wacky RPG like create a character alone. It's the game i've spend most of my time on at the wii.

Medal of Honor Heroes 2 might interest you as a changeup despite the heavey gaming rig for FPS. It can be quite fun pumping a shotgun before firing.

Other than that i'm not sure what else your in to.

UFO Afterlight (PC)
very steep learning curve if you're new but awesome tactical squad game. It's like a cross between turn base tactical and real time stragegy.
once you get into it, it will eat up many sleepless nights and many months.

you can customize your soldiers to be jack of all trades or master of 1, blah blah. Highly customizable troops.

the weapons you can also customize with add-on such as scope, stabalizers, etc...
you can have multiple types of ammo, too, on certain firearms

there is also research tree, something like civ.

there's production

there's base building/upgrading

aliens also invade you base, so you get base defense mission, too

There's also a bunch of mods, too.

They should have a demo that you can try, also.

Be warned. It probably has a higher learning curve than Civ.

Trauma Center & MoH2 both are games I have given consideration to in the past, so definitely not a bad a idea.

@Kasz,

I am into sports games, but not really baseball specifically =P Its been a long time since I cared about baseball of any kind. I am way more into Football (American), Hockey, and Soccer and probably in that order for ranking =P

I don't play Civ 4 nearly as often as I should with how much I spent on the game and all its expansions. I play it sparingly but I have several friends who cannot get enough of it and my brother is an absolute junky ..although he doesn't come to visit but maybe twice a year.=P

I like the game quite a bit and the expansions are pretty good about trying to bring something new to the table, but for some reason it never has held my interest for more than a week or two when I add something new to it.

@Galaki,

Sounds interesting, I will definitely take a look at it.

Definitely some good ideas, and they are greatly appreciated, if anyone has anything else to add feel free. It will probably be Tuesday before I've decided for good what I wanna do.

Oh and @epsiolon,

Yeah temp was one of my big concerns actually, thats why I set up a bunch of profiles with RivaTuner so it kicks up the fan speed when things get hot. So far TF2 for hours and hours holds steady at 60C (40% fan) and Crysis has only gotten it up to 70C (60% fan) so I am pretty happy with temps so far since I have it set to crank fan speed up another +40% if it crosses 75c.

nVidia and eVGA say its safe up to 100C but its common knowledge that you are a lot better off staying below 80c if possible and the cooler the components run the longer their lifespan.  Luckily eVGA does offer a lifetime warranty for its products in the event of catastrophe =P

Yeah, i've had the same problem. Civ 2 i would play every day, for like 2 years. The rest have been improvements yet have lost my attention more then gained.

I used to have a friend who i'd play with, then i could really get into it, but since then he's moved.

If you ever wanna play a baseball game it's the game to get, assuming you don't mind the characters are cute little characters instead of big steroided freaks. All the detail they put into everything but the characters is great, the stadiums are detailed and way to many stats.

Only downside is that the motion controllers are only used in a tacked on version that isn't applied to dynasty or create a character mode.

Sorry if I overtalk it, but it really reignited my enjoyment of baseball games. As before that i picked up an MLB game about once every 4-5 years just to do so.

There's good Gamecube games you can play on the Wii...you could get a bunch of games on the cheap and still have plenty of money for newer games.

I enjoyed Supreme Commander, have you played?

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
