Valve has announced The International Dota 2 Championships 2012, revealing that the world’s leading Dota 2 championship will take place at this year’s PAX Prime event to be held in Seattle.

This year’s championship will be held during the PAX Prime event in Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Washington. PAX Prime runs from August 31 to September 2.

The International pits sixteen of the world’s best Dota teams against each other in a group stage, double elimination playoff format for a grand prize of $1 million. The event will be broadcast in multiple languages, free of charge.

Last year’s inaugural championship was held in Cologne, Germany during Gamescom.

What? DotA 2 isn't out, how are there championships?

They play with the beta build and whatever champs are available with that build. A little silly considering such a large prize money pool is at stake, but this one should be interesting as there are many more heroes available this time in comparison to the first tournament.

How are they going to pick the teams this time round? The same sixteen teams like the first tournament? 

Let see if NaVi dominates this tournament too.
