If mario kart has an adventure mode, then it would be enough for me... However, it is not the case.
During N64 ages, I like DKR more than MK solely because of the former's adventure mode plus the hovercraft and planes.... These made the game much more fun than MK!!
one thing I do not like from DKR is about the item system of which you have the choice to select the balloons to crash into, rather than having it randomly in MK... I think random item can keep the game more balanced...
However, i do not think that DKR will get a sequel later (though I really want it happen)... I think this series has ended since the NDS appearance... Anyway, it could be a surprise if it really happens.
But I really want a new F-ZERO, better to be compatible on 3DS and WiiU... Pls Nintendo...
