My Son is addicted to Call of Duty....

Just got a call from him at his friends house, as he is watching the NBA playoffs just to get sneak peaks at Black Ops 2.

He explained to me that the game is now up for preorder on the site with box art and all bla, bla, bla, bla.....

His grades always go down when a new COD comes out, but then he gets grounded to only play on the weekneds and his grades go back up..

He plays any, many, games, this week he was playing Skyrum and shadow of colossus HD, but every time a new COD game is getting ready to loauch all I hear is talks about is COD, driving me nuts ----ok just called me again while typing this and it wet like "OMG IT TAKES PLACE IN THE FUTURE 2025, FRANK WOODS IS OLD, HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD, IT'S LIKE HALO FUTURE /S WITH DRONES AND STUFF, I GOTTA GO" um...

(he actually bought SOC HD for me with his Sony Store Credits, if I bought him a game creators program, so that was cool, then he said he was going to make a game like COD....SOB)

I'm surprised and more than a little disappointed that you let your kids to play non-Sega consoles.

I can't believe what I'm reading. You are the parent. He's your son. He lives in your house. If he does something you don't approve of, take control. You have to prepare him for the real world. That's your only responsibility as a parent. If this is something you're worried about, do what you feel is right.

*edit* Your job is not to be his friend, enable him, or anything like that.  If you have to be stern, be stern. 

Explain to him that COD is just a rehash of a rehash with outdated game mechanics and developers that refuse to update their tech using sophisticated industry words.

More importantly inform him that no-one wishes to see another call of duty clone, there are so much more interesting things he could create, even in the FPS-TPS space...

This. There's no substitute for good old fashioned parenting. It's pretty hard to be addicted to Call of Duty when you're handcuffed to a water heater.

I know, but his first system was a SEGA Master System and he has two of every SEGA console made. I keep the MINT systems  in storage.  The kid was playing REAL 3D Sega Master system games before many people really knew what 3D gaming was.

As for the parenting, it's kind of a joke thread, but he buys the games with his own money that he earns.  I bring my Son up the way I was, if you earn it.  He also wants to be a game developer, to tel him don't follow your passion would be a slap in the face.... but what if he decides to make COD like games 10 years from NOW..... we be screwed....

I'm also really hard on my Son, allot harder then my parents were on me because I want him to do better then I did.

The kid has an A-B average, if some of you have read my past threads, you can clearly see I was a C-D student.

We don't have water heaters in florida....

Buy a Sega Toylet and handcuff him to that. Should solve both of your problems.
