Don't you need a mouse for the laptop anyway? And even a desk, table? Or do you only plan on playing strategy games like Civ?

I put my laptop on my bed (with a book under for fans) most of the time, If I need a table I use the table in the living room, which I can only use temporarily. No desk, no moniter, no keyboard, (which is like another £200 on top of the actual computer) just remembered I do have a mouse though. I am buying this for Civ and Tropico, although I will probably use it for Left 4 dead 2 aswell since I don't have a 360.

Buy a Sony VAIO, I have mine from 5 years ago and it is still as strong as I bought it, really great durability and quality. It plays Blurays in in Full HD when connected to a tv.

As someone who was in favour of laptops for at least 6 years, I strongly oppose you getting a laptop for gaming. In regards to your actual question, Asus make some damn fine laptops under their G series label, also you'd be lucky to play anything above medium settings with a 540m.

Time travel to the year 2024. Get any laptop off of any shelf (Walmart included). That will handle any game out today nicely.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

For £399, which will definitely play Civ 5 on medium settings nicely, so not impossible ;) Thanks for the suggestion though, I wouldn't of found this one without the link you gave me.

7450M is weaker than 6490M. Not so sure it will be playable on medium.

 HD 6620G + 7450M Dual GPU

I've looked at a few Youtube videos of similar or the same specs playing Bioshock and Skyrim on medium settings at playable Frame rates, and game-debate says medium to high (doubt I will get high though) so I'm confident :)

6620G Medium 1366x768: Civ V 16.4 fps

The dual GPU thing is very misleading, it will perform quite similarly to that. Civ V is seemingly more demanding than most games. Good luck though.

Ahh ok, thanks. What about an HD 7670m 1gb ddr3

edit: I think you read the wrong line for the last card, it says 28 fps 2nd edit: oh 16.4 was for medium

7670M would be OK but you won't find that under £500 on a normal site.

Maybe 16.4 is playable, I wouldn't know. It's a turn based game so you don't need amazing framerates I guess.

I just found someone say this on some random forum about the exact same laptop I had in mind:  I was running civ 5 at max with 4xaa last night and it was really smooth.  O_O lol how lucky is that? Guess it's settled then. This is what I'm getting , it's £70 over 500 but I think it's worth the money. And yeah 20 fps is very playable for civ 5.

Thanks again
