Kow, where do you see Sony in 10 years? Revenue compared to today. Profits. Which divisions are thriving and which are not.

The lack of synergy is a problem for Sony, they have an intellectual-propriety empire and the union of all that could be really helpful for a little rise.
Something must change, and I think Kaz wants to go in the right direction. Just the name change from PSN to SEN seems to be a very, very, very little step on that path.
I'm pretty skeptical about Sony situation, let's hope Kaz won't do only some cut and nothing more.

I am actually afraid that Sony will be pretty much irrelevant by then. If a fairly big company like Nokia is practically toast and I see Sony have similar problems (outdated and expensive products, a brand name associated with old times, an oldfashioned and cumbersome company structure) I am afraid they can't stay competitive and they will just keep shrinking. I hope I am wrong when it comes to the gaming division though.
some sony blu-ray films give you free themes.lol
are they not all still battling for our living/bedrooms,surely the future is to be making, providing, streaming content into our homes, through gamers sony, nintendo & microsoft have a gap in the door but obviously we are not the mainstream market but you have to grab some of the pie

You're right. That's an intricate situation.
As Slimebeast said, let's hope it will recover in some way, because it have and had a big role in the electronic industry, and if Sony will disappear, we'll lose a piece of the videogame industry.....still skeptical, though.
Sony should stick with hardware and content. Keep the Playstation, keep the movie studios, keep the music label and keep the profitable hardware. Who says Sony has to be on every single market? Do not produce TVs any more do not produce cell phones any more, kill the walkman. Concentrate on a really cool series of tablets running Android or Windows 8, make Vaios way more competitive regarding their price point. This will get them some cash and slim down the company. There is no other way to be successful in the near future.
Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Yes!
I think, based on my experience, that their biggest brand, right now, are the Vaio one and the Playstation one. They should push them, and cut a lot the tv division (Never seen a Bravia tv "in the wild", just Samsung and LG), and create this synergy beetween movies/games/music with an online platform for their hardware products.

I have no idea what you think software/hardware synergy means, but are you saying Apple, Microsoft, and now Google are "alienating software vendors and harware manufactuers"?
Software synergy to me, is to create a family of products that are all interconnected. Apple is the prime role model for this. iPhone, iPod, iPad all use the same software, and it looks nicer if you have that software on a Mac (although you don't have to).
All firms are going this direction, including Google.

they'll have to give that a go sometime i guess.what other choice do they have, when everything is streamed/cable its going to be a massive battle for our monthly/online payments, but how you make sure you get enough money/customers i wouldn't know
i don't think keeping your movies and music from other companies/services would be a great idea though but for example if you bought sony hardware you got cheaper deals with sony media or something
