Forums - General - Mafia Round 40. Pokemon! Gotta Catch them all!

He also asks everyone to make a list of the Top 5 suspects and adds an emoticon to come across more innocent. It could just be a clever way to gauge the level of suspicion directed at him and his scum buddies.

But what tops it off is that he asked you what your pokémon is. Not an outright roleclaim, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure a player's role based on his pokémon's moveset. At the very least it can be narrowed down. We already had the case of radish who intended to fakeclaim, because he thought Jigglypuff could make people think that he is scum. In other words, someone who is familiar with the Pokémon lore can figure what a pokémon's role is. And mario is such a person, because when HD claimed to be a sibling, mario named the three most famous pokémon pairs and one of them turned out to be correct one.

At this stage in the game there is no benefit for town to ask others to come forward and reveal their pokémon. But there's certainly a benefit for mafia, because it helps them to guess what kind of role a player may have.

This is the most solid case we've had today, so...

Vote: mario

No, I want to see who everyone's top suspects are for future reference. Thus, when someone flips mafia we can see what they were thinking at the time. Obviously they are not going to put all the mafia on their suspicious list, so you have to be a bit clever about it, but these lists generally help town a lot more than they help mafia. (In my experience) Oh, and the emoticon was because I said it was very important.

Pokemon have so much moves that there is no way you could conclude what their role is just from naming a Pokemon. That is laughable. For example, Dragonite, what would his role be? The reason I ask him to name his Pokemon is because I highly believe he isn't one to begin with.

Again, we can't know this for sure. Just naming a Pokemon doesn't mean anything.

Most solid case today? lol

Also, while I am quoting you. Why did you change your play style so drastically from last game?

...Why would I do that?  I know exactly why you want me to name the pokemon

I wanted to see what name you would make up. Not answering the question seems to be just as bad for you though.

Does anybody else feel like Manuel suddenly got more knowledgeable about the game during the night? I'm talking about him commenting on hatmoza's power not being likely for scum and talking about scum to townie ratios?

I don't remember who, but I think somebody said that this is likely a town role.

This seemed plausible to be, so I went on from there.

Plus: Then talk about the number of scum playeres started and I used google, which found that calculator. I thought it was interesting, so I wanted to share. That's all.

I said the role could be guessed or at least narrowed down. Dragonite would probably be a roleblocker. All it takes is a simple Google search. If pezus wasn't a pokémon, he could simply make one up. You wouldn't know if he did, but there's the potential that it hurts town if pezus is a townie and telling the truth. Again, a simple Google search. Dragonite can paralyze his target.

The reason why I changed my playstyle from last game is two-fold. Firstly, round 39 moved at a snail's pace, so I poked everyone to get them to talk. Secondly, I decided to not vote recklessly anymore, because we have six new players in this round and I may just cause people to jump on a bandwagon.

Just because Dragonite can use thunder wave doesn't mean that is the only move you can look at though. If anything, he is more known for his ability to fly at amazing speeds and his use of hyper beam. So naming a Pokemon doesn't mean anything because Pokemon can learn hundreds of moves. This is why I suggested one simple thing, which Pezus failed to do...

OK. Thank you for explaining that.

Now, explain to me why you are defending Pezus instead of letting him do it himself?

...What caused this sudden change of heart? And why did you cut off my post?

I'll answer this in reverse order.

I frequently cut off certain parts from posts to only include the most important points. If you want to view the rest you can look back at the whole thing.

There was no sudden change of heart. Pezus was my main suspect so I voted for him.

wait some have special moves?

but seriously where did rol and nintypie disappear to?

What did you mean by your first question exactly? Were you surprised to learn that some of us have special moves?

How does this help town?

All will be revealed before the day ends Rol. All in good time.

Even I knew that. :/

I think I'll add Mugen to my suspicious list.

Same with NintendoPie. I can't put my finger on it, but the way he acts seems fishy.

The lynch is probably between MUGEN and Pezus.

Vigilante, if you exist, can you please shoot the other one in the face? K, thanks, bye.

I've rereading Day One pezus and I've noticed a pattern with his votes and it's that once he moves to a new target he acts like there's no doubt in his mind that this new person is Mafia:

After voting hatmoza, he states he's obvious Mafia (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4527378)
After voting for Basil, he asks people to focus on Basil since he clearly a Mafia player (http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=4528870)

I had to come back to this. If that is Linkz idea of mentoring, he completely destroyed any raw development for Doofus this round. That's like a kid being brainwashed to think like a single parent thinks instead of picking up their own style from various environmental backgrounds. You learn from all players in mafia. Linkz gave the poor bastard tunnel vision.

Also, don't know what the big fuss is about cutting quotes, rol. I do it all the time. The hardly anything to hold against someone. You're trying too hard ...
