In many different instances when discussing the coming 'next-gen' I've heard many a post state that there is no way X720 or PS4 is coming this soon because Halo 4 or God of War:Ascension or XYZ game is launching near the same time.
Are you really unable to realize that games take a long time to create, especially if they have to be tied to the creation of new engines and SDKs for new consoles?
Nintendo announced the Wii U, yet still released Zelda Skyward Sword, easily one of Nintendo's largest IPs.
PS3 launched in Nov 2006, yet Sony released God of War II in March 2007 ... FOR THE PLAYSTATION 2. Also, one of Sony's largest titles.
The development of one or a couple big games DO NOT correlate to when a manufacturer decides to replace that console with a newer one. It has more to do with the overall life-cycle (sales), what can and can't be done on it, and what the competition is doing with their own consoles.
Facts are very simple right now.
1) Nintendo is confirmed to be launching next-gen hardware THIS YEAR and this by itself forces the others to plan a release shortly after.
2) Nearly EVERY large 3rd party (not anonymous) has had major leaks of info regarding next-gen hardware beyond the Wii U. Including one in particular that spoke about a secret London showing "Project Durango" which resulted in that developer being fired.
3) All three companies have confirmed either directly or indirectly that new hardware is well into development.
4) There are many job postings all through developers and the big three regarding next-gen hardware.
All four of those heavily outweigh the illogical and unsubstantiated theory that X game releasing proves there is no way a new console is coming.
