Forums - Gaming - Fez is Not a Good Game (A Nutshell Review)

I know. That's not the only nice thing Mr. Fish did. He also voted against Super Meat Boy receiving an indie price at IGF for not being "indie" enough due to it having an XBLA contract. He then turned around and submitted Fez to XBLA.

fez creator is a fucking douche , the game artstyle looks great but the games from the videos i saw looks so boring easy and simple. 5 years to make this game ? what? spin, jump catch a cube , spin jump catch a cube lol

That sums it up nicely.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Anyway, all this is unrelated to the criticism rightfully directed at Fez. The game's main shortcoming is that there is no consequence for failure. This flaw alone prevents Fez from being objectively good.

So the game is rated for its developper but not for the game itself?

you screwed it up...

I haven't played the game, so I can't say anything about quality.

but the creator is definetely a douche... I'm not that interested as theres a lot of other games I haven't played.

Yeah, it messed up for me as well.

OT: I played the trial and that was enough for me. It has it's charm and I can see why it would receive a 90/100 from a bunch of reviewers, but it just wasn't that appealing to me. Pushmo is much more interesting to me, the concept is similar, but I think it's just a matter of taste for me. Nothing against Fez. I'm sure it'll do well based on the reviews alone. I might consider getting it if they put it on PC.

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward = best game ever made.

I'm going to whole hardily disagree after playing the trial. Let me just point this one, I was never highly anticipating this game so I was very surprised at how good this game really it. Btw not all games have to have bad guys you fight or have to avoid. It's strictly a puzzle/platformer game, which imo makes it pretty unique compared to most games this gen. I love the art style that complements the gameplay and music score. It's a very unique and original game.

So let me get this straight, I should take the opinion of one person over professional reviewers? Sorry, but I'm going to have to side with the critics on this one. You state everything like it's a fact, maybe you should fix that.

It depends where you look and what games you play. This game is far from unique and there are plenty of puzzle platformers out there. The problem is for some reason reviewers are all over this and hailing it as a 10/10 game while other innovative creative efforts like Closure hardly get mentioned at all. I guess being an ass as a game developer helps getting your game noticed.

It's still a decent game, nothing wrong with a bit of relaxing exploration, but 10/10 is a bit much with the technical issues alone. And it's not difficult to see how for many it is closer to walking through a level editor then a fully developed game.

Certainly not. As I wrote before pezus broke the formatting:
