Forums - Gaming - Should I get the GC version of the original Resident Evil game?

That is a load of crap if people tell you not to get this remake. I have been playing RE since they came out. I still own all the original Playstation discs which I use on my PS3. This remake is dope. I think they did a great job. If you are new to the series you may have to start over a couple times. I am not going to give no spoilers.... but yea. I was not the biggest fan of zero. I still play it every now and then. RE4 is a must have for almost any person and their gaming style. RE4 is one the best games ever. I would not mind a remake of RE2 with the mechanics of 4 and these next gen graphics but that is just me.

One more thing.... I really do not think the gamecube controllers were as bad as people said they were. I never had problems with it but then again I rarely played my GC except for these RE games because I did not like any other of the games the system had to offer.

the GC version of Resi 1 is just superb - loved every second of it

Damn i think i am the only one who thinks that RE4 was a step backwards

Well, that's how life is

REmake is a hell of a lot more frightening than RE4 (those are the only two in the series I have played)

I would suggest getting it, but it is much harder than RE4 Wii version, mainly due to the control scheme (I actually liked it, it can be awkward but once you are used to it it's fine, it is probably once you know it's limitations that helps make the game scarier,... there are many points where you are walking down a corridor toward the camera, and the camera changes to it's next view (behind you) only to show there was a zombie just out of site from the first view and you just ran into it's arms.

There is also considerably less ammo. though I would say more health (though you need it a lot more too)

It's more of an experience than anything else.... I'd reccomend it

Reviewers generally consider the RE1 remake on the Cube as the definitive version of Resident Evil. I'm actually borrowing the all the GC Resident Evil games at the mo and playing through the remake.

I can tell you this with certainty though, the remake is ALOT more difficult than the original PS1 game, it really is a hell of a load more tougher.

Excellent game though, definitely worth getting.

As for 2 and 3, they're simple ports, the same PS1 visuals with a slight touch of smoothing to them, nothing special but worth getting all the same because they are brilliant.

Get Re0 and REmake, re2 and re3 a miss. PS1 graphics just dont cut it any more for RE game.

-UBISOFT BOYCOTT!-

Ignore any remarks about graphics really.

RE2 and 3 are still brilliant games, thats what that matters above all else.

And really, they're not hideous either. It's not like you're trying to fight off zombies that look space invader sprites. 2 is still the best of the 'old style' RE series (by that I mean all games before 4), it'd be stupid to disregard it because it's 'just' a PS1 game.

Stop being so shallow eh? lol

You should definitely buy RE(1) for the gamecube. its an amazing game. As stated above the controls can be a bit awkward but that what makes the tension so brilliant. I can't decide whether 1 or 4 is the better game overall because 1 is a lot more scary. The gameplay in 4 is way better (the Wii version is incredible).

You can buy REmake for under $/€ 20,- and thats definitely worth it. Also considered the replay value. You have to beat the game with 2 different main characters to get the complete game.
If you like RE than I would suggest to bu Zero as well.

Personally I cannot really enjoy 2, 3 and Code Veronica anymore, because of the graphics, but when I originally played them they were really good as well.

I just picked up Re0 at my local gameshop today... The game looks really neat for a 2002 Gamecube game...

It's good and fun though... A friend of mine has RE1, RE4 (which i borrowed) and RE: UC and i can definitely say he's enjoying RE1 and we both though RE4 was brilliant!...

I dunno about RE2 and 3Nemesis because they've had some crap-ass reviews but RE0, RE1 and RE4 are good and look good... 0 and 1 play alot different then 4 though and it takes about 15 minutes to get used to that 'old' controlscheme! Great games nonetheless...

If u like RE 0,1... U might wanna consider 2 and 3... And if your obsessed with the story, get UC... .

What is great of the Wii is that one can play ALL the Main-story RE games that are out there right now:

RE0, 1, 2, 3, 4 on the cube

RE4, UC on the Wii...
