Forums - Website Topics - Abuse of title editing (news threads)

Since you can edit thread titles now, these news threads (particularly the Nintendo one http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=140966 but I see others ) are putting attention-grabbing headlines in the title.

However when you click on it, the info you came for is not in the first post (usually some kind of intro) or the last post (people discussing whatever about the general topic). Instead you have to hunt through the thread for the post in the title, which  isn't even labelled the same as the the title since it's usually an Article X containing Interesting Point Y and they put Y in the title but X as the header of that post. So oftentimes I just give up after 2 minutes of clicking and scrolling around trying to find the cool thing. Sometimes it's even the same article quoted as was said in another thread I've already read, but I can't tell until I find that post.

Conclusion: If you have news updates, edit them into the top of the OP as well.

While I can agree that it can be a bit annoying at times, I don't think it's title abusing, more a 'latest happening' notification imo

i've talked plenty to the ops of several threads. i'f you notice it's a practice i follow closely with the threads i've been providing updates to as of late.

it's really not that hard to do people. when you update, make the op content current.

They are fan threads, they've always been like that, the information which was posted on the thread titles usually appear somewhere around the last 3 pages.

I never found a problem with the Nintendo thread nor the Vita thread o.o.

If they werent like that and were forced to do like you said than there would be 10 times more topics or in this case 100x more topics from Ryan and we dont want him to get banned again for excessive thread making :(

My first solution I listed was - edit them into the top of the first post. Whatever the newest one is.

I was thinking this more that the change in thread title should be highlighted in the very first post, and then possibly again later in the thread. It's very difficult waiting for loading and then changing pages etc etc from my android.

I agree, just make new threads for news and discussion

I rarely enter those "official" threads because of what you said in the OP

That is why some Official Thread Owners use the *Saved Space Feature* Sadly, I was too dumb to recognize what a great idea it was when I made my thread.
