Forums - Nintendo - Could they be working for Nintendo?

What do you think? That would be crazy right?

Could analysts that state Wii U is weaker than PS360 work for Nintendo? Their statements are getting Nintendo a lot of attention these days. What if the Wii U is significantly stronger than the PS360, and the analyst are trying to get us to believe it isn't so we set our expectations low, thus creating our surprise for Wii U's power to be more of a... surprise?

It sounds crazy, but it might sound crazy enough to work.

I thought that at first, but it doesn't seem like Nintendo's style

No. It makes no sense to denigrate your own product.

Why would Nintendo hire an analyst to intentionally downgrade their stock?

No, stock investors follow these analysts and their downgrading of Nintendo from buy to sell does not help Nintendo in the least. Nintendo could buy up stock on the cheap if analysts are telling share holders to sell and tearing the company down. But I believe that is insider trading and highly illegal.

If anything I could see Sony paying the analysts to shoot down Nintendo. Corporate espionage at its best. But Nintendo losing some share holders if not alot of them as well as not getting new investors that hurts Nintendo. Share holders can really do damage if they all actually believed these reports and pushed for iOS.

So no this is not in Nintendo's best interest at all. If it was over whelmingly positive news maybe but they would not purposely sabotauge their share holder support!

This is what I said after these rumors surfaced as well, halfway joking, of course, but rather with the intent to specifically mislead Microsoft and Sony.  If they were to believe that WiiU wasn't much of a threat, they could drop their guard concerning their next gen preparations for E3 (which, I think they'll focus E3 on their current gen anyway).

Like Radish said though, it's not really Nintendo's style... or is it?   :P

actually Nintendo would have a lot of work to prove people wrong and show how superior their system is compared to current gen systems. A lot of devices failed because people did not know what they were capable of. Ask Sega.
