Forums - Nintendo - Resident Evil on the 3DS

I remember sometime back that Capcom expressed interest in creating more RE titles for 3DS, partially on account of the reception of Resident Evil Revelations.  Yet I keep on hearing conflicting opinions on how the game is a failure and/or a success, sales wise.  If that's the case, why would Capcom continue to do RE on the 3DS

Because it has plenty of time to make more sales, and why wouldn't they want to make games for the leading handheld at this time?

Yeah, and I'd like to think that 500k units world wide is anything but bomb territory.  It's not a million, but c'mon, this is only on a fledgling new handheld.  How high were some fans expecting RE:R to sell?  I'd say it's done all right so far.

It wasn't even released during the Holiday. Just watch how it performs..

Well, I think that 500k is more than enough to Revelations become profitable.

After all it isn't a AAA HD game that have to sell 1.5 million only to pay its development costs.

Edit - Fixed the last sentence.

Absolutely.  Revelations has probably already made a profit right now, and those who say that it failed are probably just trying to say it just because they can.  Fat chance of this ever getting ported to Vita.

I really hope they make more re games in the same semi 'old school' style as revelations which was the closest the series has come to recapturing its survival horror roots for many a year imo.
I did read an interview with the games director somewhere ( can't link cos I can't remember where) saying he was enthusiastic about making a sequel esp since the fans had given the game the thumbs up.

It's not a failure. It's sales are in line with the other best selling Resident Evil's on Nintendo platforms.
