Harebrained Schemes is the latest to join Kickstarter with a project needing a helping hand. In this case, it’s for Shadowrun Returns, which has until April 29 to reach its goal of $400,000. So far, 3,547 have backed the title with $165,815 and counting. Any excess funds will be put to releasing a Mac version of the game additional content, and languages other than English. The game will be a single-player 2D, turn-based RPG with Shadowrun vets penning the script and designing the game. Hit up the link to aid in the development and glean more information. If that is the case then every company should do that! Make losing money and worrying about making a profit a thing of the past!


pretty much 

So far it's only reall been done with smaller neiche games, but considering that is the type that mainstream developers wouldn't fund it works out well. It allows a small passionate community to pull their money together to get a game made that would never be otherwise.

Na, the two latest ones are from Al Lowe to support the already announced Leisure Suit Larry remake and Jane Jensen (Gabriel Knight inventor) to chose and fund her next game.

Already announced (up on Kickstarter in May): Chris Jones' KS project for a new Tex Murphy game.

Hmm Shenmu cost $35 million for a dreamcast game so ajusted for inflation I would say a new one would cost $50 million...

Shadowrun was sweet. But I guess this will be PC only title? I had Shadowrun on 360.

It looks like it is going old school PC version, for PC and tablet, turn-based amd so on.  Shame won't be like the Genesis version, but still seems promising.

Ah the old days haha. The one on 360 was RPG-FPS-ish, more of an FPS.

The one on the 360 was NOT an RPG.  It was a game like Counterstrike, with a Shadowrun skin.
