LOL! Even if they took a 2008 GPU/CPU it woud easily outperform the off the shelf PC counterparts. Why? Optimization.

These PS4 specs are a HUGE improvement over PS3. Easily. I'm sure no one wants another $600 console.

You're a PC gamer anyway so what do you care?

I just bought an HD 6670 low profile card, and I'm not impressed by it at all. Cant even do 1080p with all effects without major slowdown. So someone with more knowledge about pc cards, feel free to correct me, but if these specs hold true, then Wii U won't be too far off and will infact be able to receive ports easily (if not the main console that does the porting, ala PS2).

Nope. These PS4 specs are generations ahead of the Wii U.(CPU is similar but GPUs is much in a completely differerent league)

There's not way the Wii U with its power will become the main platforn next-gen lol. Keep dreamin'.

BTW that HD 6670 on your PC will never get used to its full potential. That's how PC gaming is. Devs have to program for a wide variety of GPUs so no 1 graphics card is ever fully optimized since it becomes outdated within a year.

Bold: You are correct.

Unbolded: WiiU's GPU crushes the 6670.

No, it doesn't. Wii U is rumored to be using the R700 series which are the 4xxx gamily of GPUs.

Not if the wiiU rumors hold true.

And in regards to the card, you have to consider that dedicated hardware will allow for developers to get the most out of the hardware, instead of generically scaling it. Another note-worthy thing is the assymetrical crossfire that gives the machine a secondary GPU for that ekstra boost.

I still think they should have gone with a cell design though, and I gotta say that I'm not very impressed with, especially the CPU... But with the economy, and sony as a company as is, They probably can't afford to take big risks. This seems like a "safe" machine.

What rumors would that be?

That the wiiU is roughly on par with the ps360 visually ?

It's also worth noting that it's HIGHLY unlikely that the wiiU will have a better GPU than the ps4. I base that on current gen and anything that has been revealed so far, including statements from nintendo, about how they are going to continue in the same direction as the wii took them. - It should be noted that I still rather see a more powerful GPU from sony, but i'm withholding judgement. I am with the WiiU too, But I can't help but form an opinion on both of them based on what I've read and heard :P

So you listen to rumors from anonymous/ No name devs, then listen to facts from devs that have giving thair names??, very smart of you.

Also i would like to see them statements from nintendo devs that says they are going to continue in the same direction as the Wii. Before the Wii Nintendo has always had a very powerful console, GameCube was the 2nd powerful of last gen, so maybe they are going to go back to that again?, It's only this gen Sony has releases the most powerful console, as before this gen they always released the weakest.

That didn't work out very well for Nintendo. Why would they go back to that when Microsoft and Sony will easily crush them on specs? No point in trying to compete in that department...Nintendo knows that. What they can deliver however is great family games. What they can deliver is innovate controls and unique experiences. For the types of games that Nintendo will deliver, power isn't important. Does Nintendo devs even have experience making full HD 1080p games? No. They can't jump from SD games, all the way to FULL HD 1080p. It would be suicide and games would take FOREVER to come out.

PC gamers are directly effected by hardware and plans of console manufacturers.

The next console gen brings the new standard in graphics as well as the uptake of new technologies.

Why do you think directX10 was never really as successful as 9?

only talking about one console i own, i bought like 100 xbox 360 games (not so much but maybe 80), 2 360's because one broke after guarantee, i bought like 6 controllers and paid ~$50 for xbox live over 7 years now and i bought my first hd tv just because of the new consoles so why the hell should i care if the console will cost $600 if i can get much better technique then? if i pay 6k or 6.2k for one generation doesn't really matter lol. and i don't even talk about inflation which means $600 end of 2013 would be much less than it was in 2006

i know not everyone will buy 100 games and many sell them after they played them but i clearly wouldn't have a problem to pay that thinking about the improvement i will get with that over a whole gen.

What a load of bollocks...

Oh people can't game on 2 systems now?

I'm going based on your comment history. You yourself say you're a PC gamer and bash consoles left and right.

Then there's the obvious "Now Playing" which you have 3 PC games.

You're in the minority. Even I don't have that many games or spend that much money on gaming.(and gaming is my main hobby)

By "I'm sure no one wants another $600 console." I meant "I'm sure the majority doesn't want another $600 console"

yeah ok but still even if i'm in minority (sure i am) people spend much more on average than these 100-200 bucks they would spend less at release for the console. as example how many bought a hd tv for gaming? many of my friends did. without that they would have bought their first when they bought their second one...and most have to buy some controllers as well.

and at least people who buy the console for that price, the first purchasers, buy a lot of games over the whole gen. not as much as i did but a lot. i mean, we are talking about the first purchasers which are most of the time the gamers willing to pay for many games in one gen not about the players buying a console years after release.

and 600 in 2006 was much more than 600 in 2013. so even with the same price of the ps3 at release the console would be much cheaper inflationary. i'm saying this a lot of times in different threads but people are fine to pay more for everything in their lifes because they have increaing pay cheques as well except for one of their most beloved hobbies. no clue why i'm still saying it^^

i personally hope for a 500 bucks console. wouldn't be much in my opinion for the year 2013 and could be still powerfull (depends as well if microsoft or so will sell it under a loss like this gen)

A photoshopped Mac Mini and Dualshock keypad to look like a display/touchscreen?

Yup, it's definitely hardware speculation time.
