Resulz!!! | 38 | 6.87% | |

I'd highly recommend the PS3. I'm not a fanboy, I like both Sony and Nintendo. But honestly have never seen the appeal in Microsoft. PS3 definitely has the bigger library of games (with lots of ps1 classics to download too), more exclusives, free online with similar experience (minus cross game chat), and a blue ray player if you are interested. Sure more people (in the US) might have 360's compared to Ps3's, but that doesn't make it better at all.
You mentioned you aren't a fan of shooters. While i personally think PS3 has it's fair share of shooters too, the 360 pretty much focuses on shooters and wrpgs. The 360 wrpgs run slightly better but PS3 is the choice for jrpgs hands down.
Plus if you ever decided to get a Vita down the line having a PS3 would only benefit you.

I think "Microsoft kind of guy" is a bit of an understatement. Every post I've seen from him involves a complaint about PS3 fans or excessive praise for the 360.
Anyway, you should buy what appeals to you most really, you know what you want better than we do. You said you weren't interested in shooters and that you're more interested in a variety of games, action / adventure games and RPG's, so I would recommend the PS3. What consoles do your friends have?

this nails it, + you'll pay for Multiplayer when you decide to go the green route.
If you love Halo and Gears, go with the 360, but otherwise the PS3 is the definite choice.
(*Owns every Console.*.. and Yes, i am a little Sony Fanboy, but i was a Nintendo Fanboy until 2k8. So i wasnt born Pro Sony. :P.. but still, neither of the systems really destroy the other one, its a pretty close call.)

So you're a convert! If you've been converted then your opinion is far more trustworthy.
So up until a few weeks ago, I was a PS3/PC player. PS3 gets a lot of my time just because of the comfort factor. I recently picked up a Xbox 360 250 (used) for $200. After hearing about how things in Xbox land were so awesome, I was very curious to check some things out. First impressions are a bit disappointing. The Xbox UI is nice, but its very odd to me that you cant find everything in the normal dashboard that you can if you press the xbox button. Simple things like adding a digital code for a game can only be done in one place, and its NOT the Games Marketplace. Wireless is odd in that I have turn the box on, watch it not connect, then go into "test internet" only to have it work fine. Waste of time
After a month or so of using both, I will say that both systems are extremely similar. While maybe 3-4 years ago it was a different landscape, but it seems that the two camps have merged and borrowed things from eachother that kinda melt into the same general experience. Maybe its because Xbox is newer to me, or that I had high expectations, but there are more annoying things on Xbox. Click on a video ad and it makes you install Zune (their online video/music store) which takes a while to load. If I want to watch a video, Ihave to either go into Zune, or hit the xbox button to bring up the video player.
Hardware is a litle annoying too. Bought a controller, but that dosnt support recharability out of the box. You have to spend 20-30 bux for a charging kit, someting PS3 dosnt have to deal with. Thank goodness the new Xboxes have wireless built in. 100 bux for the wifi adapater is rediculous.
So in the end, I went looking for all the software that Ive missed out on. Bought a DLC code for Halo Reach (last halo I played was halo 2), and its cool, but hard to compare when you have games like Battlefield and the COD. No aiming down the iron sites? Online was silly deathmatch on small map (4 on 4 I think it was). First impression, not so great. But now Im playing Borderlands with a friend that lives 1000 miles away, so its serving its purpose now. Im happy with the Xbox, but I was just expecting it to be a bit more.

How do you mean that the 360 has a better variery of games in regards of the PS3? would you mind explaining some more? :)

homer said: Get a 360 if even that. Getting a ps3 was a big mistake not because it doesn't have AMAZING games but rather because it lacks the part of gaming that I forgot I cared so much about, the community feeling. Very few people I know in real life have a ps3, while nearly everyone has a 360. Even if you have to shell out 60 bucks for online, it would be worth every penny for the experience of talking crap to your friends online. Also, their libraries are extremely close anyways and both have their share of games unavailable on the competitors. After beating Mass Effect 2 on the ps3, I wish I bought the 360 so I could have played Mass Effect 1. :( One of the best games of all time imo. |
Well, I don't really play games because of a community... I always play alone - or in the same room as my friends, like in the good old days! And all the gaming talk I need I get from here... So online isn't what I'm looking for in a console.
