Build yourself a quality PC first, then grab a PS3 for the exclusive games you're missing out on... Or vice-versa.

That's what I told him, but this guy just can't decide. I think this thread will go on until WiiU launch.

@DanneSandin: Keep in mind, you'll always be a fan of certain PC genres and one day you'll miss your strategy games. BTW: While you are still undecided, I've made my choice. My decision wasn't between a PS3 and a X360 (I already own both), but between an IPad and a new notebook. Today I decided to buy this.

Oh good for you! That looks really nice! I guess it's for gaming?

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Yes. I'll finally be able to play games like Civilization 5 and Total War: Shogun 2.

But how long will it "last", how many years are you hoping to get out of it?

Skyrim, The Witcher 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution (though I still haven't decided if I'll get those for consoles), all currently available TBS and RTS games, Anno 2070, the upcoming SimCity, upcoming Baldur's Gate I and II remakes, plus of course any game from one of my most favorite PC genres: point&click adventure. So practically any PC game currently available. I could even play Battlefield 3 or Crysis 2 on it - if I had any interest in FPS games.

In several years: Many games released between now and then, none of the then most demanding new games.

I've been thinking about getting me a laptop, but it feels like it won't run the games that are coming out in about 2-3 years... It would be a blast to be able to play skyrim on it tho! And the ME-series...

If you're considering buying a $1,000 PC, I'd say get both a 4GB 360 and a PS3. Then you can play anything you like, and a PS360 cost $380 + tax, you can save that $600 for a Wii U, or a PC when you get bored of your PS360 (by then the $1,000 PC you build now would be $500 or less).

Only thing is I like me some RTS/TBS... :(

Are you buying a $1,000 Tower or laptop? Building from scratch or getting pre-built? You can get really awesome towers that can play games on high or max settings for $600 or so if you build from scratch. I was thinking of building a new Tower as mine in literally 10 years old, and I can build one, from scratch, for $350, and it's significantly more powerful then PS3/360.

You could have it all for $1,000 if you spend your money wisely, and is your PC that bad? Can't you just upgrade it?
