There is already a headset for Vita users as well as the option for party chat--we'll save the details for the connectivity round, though. Just having such an option is a blessing for Vita owners that want to stay in touch with their friends. There's also Sony's twist to the Street Pass/Spot Pass called "Near". Near uses the internet to find other gamers around you and tells you what they are playing. I'm not quite sure how honest Near is, though. The day I got my Vita, Near told me there were 25 other Vitas within two miles of my home. I can't prove it but, considering where I live and the amount of people hyped for the Vita, I'm willing to bet that I had the only PSV in the area. I bet I still do (Just checked--today, it says nobody nearby has one. I guess they moved.). It didn't give me any names on that day, though. Near also encourages you to rate games by using emoticons. The thing is, all of the emoticons are positve! What if you don't like a game? YOur only choices are "Engrossing", "Amazing", "Cool", "Rewarding", etc. I've gone on about Near for too long. We'll save it for later. |
The actual distance of Near is 15 km, the people near you screen can fluctuate in distance depending on how many people are around you. I've seen 2 miles, I've seen 1.2 miles as a max distance on that screen. The people are still 15 km count.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
