Forums - Sales - Media Create sales week of 1/06

Ah yes, Legend's "SMG is a failure" thread. That was fun... there were also quite a few "SMG bombed in Japan" threads on our forums for a good period of time.

Fun fact of the day: SMG has sold more than double any Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 game EVER has in Japan.

HD Consoles am fail :(

This is going to change once HDTV adoption rates are higher in Japan.
I know you can get away with trolling because of your rep and post count, but can't you show just a little respect?

04. [NDS] Final Fantasy IV (Square-Enix) - 91,000 / 505,000 <----

Is that number low?

Well it is, what, the second port of FF IV?

 No, the fourth :

PS1 -> Wonderswan -> Gba -> NDS ( backward compatible with GBA ).

A man that knoooooooows his jRPGs! Definitely someone to be respected. At least I do.

One half million in JPN for a fourth iteration seems preeeeeeeeetty good. I think SE re-used the engine from the last NDS port so it seems it didn't cost that much to produce. DS = ATM.

Updated totals with full hardware figures and top 50 software.

82 percent of the top 50 software is formatted for Nintendo systems; only 6 percent of the software is for HD systems, and all 6 percent of it is in the bottom half of the list.

Wow at PSP hardware sale. PSP you are a strange beast, indeed.

In fact it hasnt ,as Everybodys Golf 5 is about 440K units right now .I know in a week or so it will have sold double but with a 3 times bigger userbase thats normal .

What surprises me are the ultrastrong hardware sales for the PSP ,its beating the Wii week by week !

I think its interesting to compare with last year sales for the same week

DS 110 328,379 (+83%) 14,381,637
WII 171,797 (+59%) 1,130,950
PSP 120,699 (+83%) 4,735,540
PS3 70,158 (-6%) 542,763
PS2 53,686 (+39%) 21,540,722
X360 19,993 (+10%) 305,307
GBA 5,845 (+48%) 16,649,843
278 1,258 (+49%) 4,014,908

Year to year we see the PS3 is selling about the same as last year ,the Wii has had some increment from 171K to 207K so some 36K units ,the PS2 as seen its numbers split in two in the final sign of decadence and the 360 doesnt manage even half the numbers of last year despite all the efforts of MS in that regards .The more interesting would be the portable system numbers ,while the PSP has managed nearly to double its sales the DS is selling considerably less that last year .So year to year we see improving the Wii and PSP specially the later ,a sensible decrease of the DS that remains the number one nonetheless ,the PS3 is about the same as last year ,and the PS2 and 360 are definitely on the way down .

that hd adoption comment wasn't trolling, he was being sarcastic.. which is hard to have come out right in text.

japan i believe has one of the highest HDTV penetration for the country...
