I just stopped responding. he clearly has nothing of positive value to say. All I'm reading is 'waaah, don't change on me!', much like the bleating of the masses who complained when Resident Evil 4 came out, or when the new Star Trek was released, or the first wave of pony fans who felt Friendship is Magic was an affront to the show they'd grown to love.

Whiners gonna whine. Ignore it and move on.

Yes, it is possible to break with a series and do something better (like Aliens) but that does not mean you SHOULD do it, or that the replacement should be declared how things should be. I'd agree that taking a show or sequel in a totally different direction is not always a good idea -- so if your sole argument was against the earlier statement "shows gotta evolve" I'd be a lot more sympathetic. But in the very same sentence you say that your vision of a TV series is one where no episode should be surprising. You go so far as to say creativity on the part of the writers is bad (after they've "finished" worldbuilding and the series is in production). No matter how brilliant the change is, it's necessarily a mistake if it is a fundamendal change in direction. Suffice to say I disagree.

But try this on for size: what if Twilicorn was planned out from the beginning?
