It was the opposite for me, found this week's episode pretty boring.
Also I think it's safe to say that Applejack's parents are dead, I guess that's what the two shooting stars at the end represented.

I actually enjoyed the episode a fair bit - the plot seemed generally more thought-out than the average episode, and it was nice to see Babs return

Ok episode, big fan of the way that it brought back the old Apples we have seen in other episodes like Braeburn. Song was probably my least favourite in the entire show though, wasn't catchy and wasn't very imaginative. I did like how they didn't choose the easy cop-out story and make it a break-down episode for Applejack, which was what I thought was going to happen right near the beginning as she was worrying about organising things.
I got a laugh out of the stereotypical Minnesota accent, doncha know.

For me, the episode was simply mediocre. There were a few good scenes, but I'd say there wasn't really anything very memorable about it (which is ironic to those who've seen it) but I didn't feel it had glaring weaknesses either ...
other than the song being repetitive and IMO very lackluster. No doubt the "1, 2, 3, 4" was supposed to evoke square dances, or something, but it just sounded dumb in the song to me.

I agree, now that i got to see it today. Decidedly mediocre, nothing really worth writing home about
Now that you mention it, i do wonder if the two shooting stars represent Applejack's potentially dead parents. That was really the only thing i was hoping for from an "Apple Family Reunion" episode, running with ideas like Applejack's parents doing what AJ herself did as a little kid, running off to be a fancy city-pony, and have them come back.
The episode seemed rather directionless, and the central conflict felt kind of forced with AJ making the events too involved.
