My thoughts on the new episode...

In a word... eh. It wasn't bad or anything, it just felt really dull, I guess.

The song... I've been waiting for an Applejack song, and when we finally get it, it's got some pretty terrible lyrics. It definitely wasn't the best work from the show. It's probably not my least favourite though... I think that still belongs to You Gotta Share.

The return of Babs was very welcome, and probably the best part of the episode for me, simply for continuity. I can't say that I love Babs' character, but seeing her and Apple Bloom together was a treat.

The whole premise of the episode wasn't really complex. I suppose most of the episodes aren't, but I feel that most episodes do a much better job of telling their stories. The writer, Cindy Morrow, has done a good job, but with a few missteps. She did Winter Wrap Up, which is a pretty well loved episode, and One Bad Seed which I quite enjoyed (and explains the return of Babs in this one). But she also did Owl's Well That Ends Well, which is one of my least favourite episodes. (Others by her; Read it and Weep, Sisterhooves Social, Family Appreciation Day, Hurricane Fluttershy, Griffon the Brush Off, Show Stoppers).

Yeah, not gonna lie, I was REALLY disappointed by the song. enjoyed the rest of the episode, though.

but seriously, 3 seasons, FINALLY an Applejack themed song and we get a generic hoe-down/line dance with repetitive lyrics? MLP, I am Disappoint! Of course, it fits her character, as she's about steadfast determination and hard work, it was just....bleh. Not the best. one of the worst songs in the show. Honestly, I liked The Cutie Mark Crusaders more.

I'm 1 minute in the episode and I noticed Derpy in the opening theme (in the train). Was she always there or is that new?

Edit: Never mind. I saw Derpy in the intro of Magic Duel too.

The old Robin Hood lookin' pimp that made a move on granny Smith is my new favorite background pony.

I liked the episode. It was richer than last week's episode.
