Forums - General Discussion - VGChartz's Official My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic thread!

I don't think so. This project has blog entries dating back to July 2011, and it looks like they had already begun work on the game (engine) by that point. Regardless, it looks like it could be a lot of fun, so I'm excited.

@Soleron: That's great, but not unexpected. I don't plan on buying any of the toys personally, but it seems like a lot of people do. I'm sure Hasbro is excited that they can now sell what used to be a girl's toy line to girls/women and adult men. Also, I read that the finale gave the Hub the highest ratings they've ever had for anything. I think it's safe to say that season 3 will come.

Yes. I only care about their results as to the chances of season renewal, and as long as pony sales are going up and the ratings are strong that seems likely. I'm just concerned continued overall losses could lead to indiscriminate cuts, especially if they feel that reruns of the 65 planned episodes would do just as well as expensive new content. I own a single toy Rainbow Dash and it's not very show accurate but I just wanted one.

I don't think Hasbro considers us much of a market really, except for the Vinyl Scratch pony set and the T-shirt license. Nothing big enough to change their business strategy anyway.

(...Just imagine a licensed pony game aimed at us [as in, still E-rated, but high quality instead of shovelware] though. Like what Rare's Goldeneye did as a licensed game)

The concern I have for My Little Investigations, that CMC point and click game and Equestria Online is that they won't actually be fun. Art and sound design are great for fangames but it's easy to forget the game should be engaging. Ponykart and Fighting Is Magic will have an easier time of making it fun as their core gameplay is already well defined.

Well, we're guaranteed at least 13 new episodes, so even if they decided that was all they wanted, it's better than nothing... But I'd like to think that with the response to the finale, they'd at least give us a full season 3 and go from there. I will be very sad if they stop at 65 episodes.

Sadly, I don't think that will ever happen. But I think that the fans are picking up the slack well enough. I can't imagine Fighting is Magic turning out horribly, and I'm pretty confident in Ponykart too.

That's a valid concern. I suppose we will get to find out on the 5th whether or not it's any good. I think it has potential, but we will see. At the very least, it has some pleasant background music.

I haven't followed Equestria Online as much because I have no idea what you're supposed to do beyond wander around and see their Equestria.

Update: I just checked the website, and apparently there was some problems on the team and the game has been reborn as Legends of Equestria (?), which I'm guessing is being made by the rest of the team. The guy who started Equestria Online is working on a new game.

Same. For me it's the fanmusic, I listen to pony songs for hours a day and if the show stopped the fanmusic would fade away and I'd have little to look forward to musically any more.

Yeah I forgot. LoE looks graphically amazing (for a fangame) but I think it might just be a glorified chatbox in the end. Project appears to be going strong despite the drama. Designing, balancing and producing content for an MMO is possibly the most labour intensive task in the game industry even given their efforts.

Wow, a lot of pony music has come out in the last couple days. ^__^

Sorry, I was playing skyrim. This is where I go for music.  A lot of it isn't the best, or artists just starting out, but there is some good stuff there. :)

When I made the post there was about 20 new songs/remixes that had come out in the past two days.

oh god, something really weird happened last night. I don't remember the details, but I had this super weird dream where I was in equestria participating in some sort of horse race or something...not the running of the leaves (in the dream I asked if that's what it was, but it wasn't/) For some reason it was a ...swimming race? I dunno. all I know is that I had to sneak into the track to get something for Rarity.

It was WEIRD.

But I woke up with an odd desire to watch more ponies, so I guess it wasn't all bad.
