The villain had two speaking lines. "CRYSTALLLLLLLS" and "NOOOOOOOO"

I feel that summed up the episode.

Yeah. Kinda really dropped the ball on King Sombra.

Kind of reminds me of the Star Wars prequels in a way. Lots of epic, lots of mythos, but it doesn't quite click on the fundamentals.

I much preferred the idea of a "King Somber" when we thought that was his name. Not an aggressive villain but one whose influence caused unhappiness, and by finding the cause through a personal connection (instead of epic showy magic) they could restore him.

Eh, that would have been a little trite. This way he was mysterious but powerfully evil. The problem is he didn't get enough screen time or development beyond generic evil (trite in a different way)

Damn, must've missed that. I saw all the commercials, but maybe they aired that during Littlest Pet Shop, which i have no interest in seeing.

So was this episode 1 and 2, or was just episode 1 44 minutes? Is this gonna be a season of hour long episodes, or what?
