Serious lack of characterisation and context. I can see explosions but I'm not feeling anything because both the villain and Crystal ponies are completely flat.

I don't hate it, just won't be rewatching.

Kind of agree. Almost a little too epic, and similar to "A Canterlot Wedding," a little fast-paced. They could have had something perfect with a three-part episode.

Far too little King Sombra, too. While it was clear that he was a potent threat, we knew too little of he or his motives. Part of what made Chrysalis as good as she was was our look at her motive.

7/10. Would be 6, but i for one like the "Pony Mythos," and seeing the magic and such, which this episode had in spades. It also did a better job of fleshing out Shining and Cadence, who were very flat in "Canterlot Wedding."
