It isn't the first terrible TV show or film tie-in game, those date back to the NES.

You weren't expecting a game aimed at an adult audience right?

I wish one of the community RPG-like games (including my own) would get finished soon. Since Ponykart and Fiends from Dream Valley were cancelled I douby anything but Fighting will finish.

That's actually what made me start watching it.  saw all the stuff on Memebase and was like "Wait, there may be something here if the community is that invested in it."  got sad over derpy dying before I knew who derpy was, then thought I'd give the show a chance. 

Had to watch the entire first season before liking it.

Huh. So it has nothing to do with a motion picture or twice-as-long series, but just because they figure they can get more with less.

I understand it a little, but it makes them sound like they just don't want to be in the TV business.

Yeah, I mean there must be some kind of logic going like "we want to make X money off of TV, so if we'd make X+50% with a full season I guess it's time to cut production". 

It's either Insane Troll Logic or their executives literally consider their TV episodes to be commercials and nothing more.
