For the first ten years, the Simpsons tended to gain exceptional writing staff whenever they lost it. Trading up for people like Conan O'Brien, for instance. In One Piece's case, it's based off a manga that, of course, has the same author and artist throughout, so its much easier to keep the tone consistent. Plus the One Piece anime has avoided getting bogged down in filler as often as others, and their characters are strong enough that filler works better than in other anime.

I wouldn't be half as into this if my brother didn't watch with me from the first day. He doesn't care about the "fandom" but it's worth it to share the good parts and know they are good.

Oh! There is a MLP:FiM thread on VGchartz! For some reason I had never seen it, and watching the show and following the community (and college (and playing games...)) pretty much was what kept me away from this site for the past 12 months...
