Still though, crazy! It's weird to think that the 3DS has three times the number of sold consoles than the Vita right now. Though crazier still that the PSP is almost the same level. I never realized how well that thing sold in the first year.

Yeah, it's definitely interesting to see. PSP is still very successful, no question, so it makes the comparisons for the Vita even more complicated, especially when the PSP keeps outselling the Vita in Japan almost every week.

I think my guess for the Vita NOW will 4.2 or 4.3m by the end of the year. 200k total on Black Friday week and the slow descent from there, I just can't see it hitting 5 before the year is up. I also can't see the 3DS hitting 30m either before year end, but, still, 1.1m in the last two weeks is quite reasonable.

"with each memory card we make a profit" is that the saying anyway sony/hmv sent me an email for an 8gb memory card if i want to buy a vita from hmv,they really are pushing the ads

why would sony expect to sell as much as their first prediction sell through,surely they knew the price was too high and without anything extra,they have the PSP it's not as if they don't know the market,doesn't make sense to me

I remember the PSP/DS launches well. All I wanted was a PSP with a good GTA game and couldn't care less for the DS Game and Watch.

Wish I could remember what is was that changed my way of thinking.

Man, all those graphs look painful, but the bar graph really offers a great visual.

I imagine things are going to flatten out pretty quickly on all the other graphs as well soon enough. Is it safe to say that Christmas didn't have the intended hope that Sony was going for on the Vita? Even the DS outsold it the vast majority of the weeks this season and that can't really bode well.

This is a temporary cut, they've already realized that they lose too much money with permanent cuts. They've admitted to this, or at least convinced themselves that it's what the public wants.
