Forums - Microsoft Discussion - APB, the upcoming game from Realtime Worlds

I was sitting here in a slightly hung over stupor and had the brilliant idea to waste some client time by seeing what the hell Realtime has been up to since Crackdown.

Has anyone seen any real info on this game? I liked Crackdown and thought it could have gone from good to great with a little emotion and life put into the world, not to mention your character.

In any case, I guess we can chalk this up as one more 360 game that is shrouded in mystery.

It would be nice if MS would start promoting these games a bit so we can find out how they are progressing.

Check out some of the character concepts..

Not sure how I feel about MMOG on consoles. This looks like what Shadowrun should of been.

Sounds pretty cool.

Yeah, I'm pretty wary of MMOs on consoles but if the game has some of the fun aspects of Crackdown in it, I'll be interested enough to at least rent the game.

PS. Shadowrun deserved to sell exactly zero copies. Anyone who thinks a Shadowrun FPS is a good idea instead of a high-quality western RPG needs to be beat down with a stick.

Shadowrun has one of the greatest universes created in the past 30 years and a lot of today's Cyberpunk draws heavily from FASA's ideas back in the day. It is an absolutely perfect universe from which to make an RPG.

I really thought the Xbox 360 would have had more MMO-games by now.
* Huxley
* Age of Conan
* APB
* DBZ working tittle
* ...

That's something the 360 is missing t in its huge library off games!

This is one of my most highly anticipated games. Does anyone remember the original Atari arcade classic? It was frickin' awesome!

The first time I played GTA (the original) it reminded me of APB, but in reverse. They were both top-down driving games about pursuing criminals, only in APB you were the cops. Now one of the guys that worked on the original GTA is remaking APB; I'm pretty sure that's no coincidence.

I'm not expecting APB's transition to 3D to be as monumental as GTA's, but I'm praying they capture some of the spirit of the original (donut stops!). Some of the concept art has me a bit worried though; all the characters look the street punks in cheesy '80s action movies. Not entirely sure how it will work as an MMO either, but I'm gonna keep my hopes up.

For anyone that hasn't played the original, I suggest downloading MAME and giving it a whirl (there was a pretty decent version for the Atari Lynx as well, though not up to the standard of the arcade).

Dammit, I knew I recognized the name from somewhere.

Good call, Played_Out. I remember that arcade game. My brother played it a lot.

APB is looking good and I think Realtime / Webzen will do a great job on it... I can't wait for it to ship. This is a day one must own for me...

RocketPig - did you even play Shadowrun? From what I've gathered from players, it was fantastic (even though I agree 100% that FASA should of made a WRPG instead of a multiplayer only FPS).

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
