If it has, then why is there talk about the Wii U being less powerful than the PS3/360?


Where's the confirmation? I only see them speculating about DX11 equivalent features been on Wii U.

New Mario Wii U game to be based on the New Super Mario Bros Mii game shown at E3 2011!

“In a recent interview, Mr. Miyamoto confirmed that a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Wii U system will be shown at this year’s E3 Expo. This is based on the Mario experience that was demonstrated at last year’s E3 Expo. We’ll have more to announce about our plans for the E3 Expo at a later date.”

Or the Wii U one is a 3D game by the Galaxy team. They have been working on a new 3D Mario game for Wii U since Galaxy 2 came out. 3D Land was made with a small portion of the team and with outside support from Brownie Brown.

The next Smash Bros for 3DS and Wii U is going to work together. Could Nintendo do something here aswell?

That would be really awesome. Still, I do wish for Nintendo to say something about the next 3D Mario game at E3. Possibly confirming a 2013 release.

To be honest, i was expecting a new 3D Mario. Just imagining what Nintendo would do with a more powerful console... now we will probably have to wait a couple of years before we get a glimpse.
If this 2D Mario gets released next year, we will probably see a 3D one in 2014/5

If your connectivity theory is correct, then I would think that the 2D Mario is a launch title. Or near launch.
