Forums - Sony - Sony's UK VP Fergal Gara: people should look forward to E3 and though the initial Vita numbers are good, it's what comes after that counts.

So, are these words "encouraging to you as a Sony fan?

Two interviews with Fergal Gara, the UK Vice President of Sony.

The first talks about E3 and what to expect:

“Yeah, never underestimate what may be on the horizon. I’m privileged to know a little bit more about what’s coming down the line. What I would say is, there is interesting stuff coming, not all of which we can announce right now.”

Whilst he was more restrained and tight lipped in the first interview, the latter on the other hand talks about the Vita Launch numbers and is a little more candid.

“We’re in this for the long game so I expect a strong start,” explains Gara, “but I expect, and we need, we want, a strong year.” So while the initial numbers are encouraging it’s what comes later that’s really going to count. “The strength of titles post-launch and the way we communicate all those wider benefits – particularly gaming benefits – through the year are at least as important.”

That's pretty much standard PR, so I voted "Hmm...". Also because I was unsure if I am really a Sony fan.

I actually agree with you. The "I've seen the future and it's awesome, just wait and see" is pretty standard and this is not the first time I've seen it, but it's the Vita one I'm more interested in. He doesn't get too "Hyped" or too down on the numbers, he just says let's focus on the long run and not the first week. He goes on to talk about the end of the year, no one ever remembers there's a tomorrow, all they care about is today's numbers.

Ugh, it's next Friday...what a long wait in store for us.
Better be something good. What this guy says is nowhere near newsworthy

Next friday?

Yeah, Vita Heaven.

I'm guessing Vita Heaven is going to announce a bunch of games, and everything they don't mention will be brought up at e3.

Goddamnit show me some monster hunter.

Initial predictions are for 4 game announcements.

Oh that, as always with these things, NEVER get your hopes up.

It's going to be either good or great. It's already good, from what we know.

The chances of shattered hopes are minimal. Only thing that can be really bad is release dates... it's useless to announce a game for 2013, sales will not improve!
