Yeah, I only found out because I screwed up on my load for that mission and instead of the N7 Valiant, I put the Incisor rifle and was able to kill the driver inside XD. The Valiant would have destroyed the Atlas's armour in 3 shoots with the AP bullets even on Hardcore.

Well, the Phalanx and the Tempest really do weigh next to nothing, especially on X and the Viper is one of the lightest Snipers in the game as well, so I can see those 200% with the proper build. Probably going to try it myself, but I just love my current load of Black Widow and Phalanx XD.

I used to have a similar setup in the first runthrough of the game but I just couldn't stand the longer power recharge speeds.

I actually used to have the Mantis/Phalanx/Tempest combo (still +200% recharge speed) but I ended up going with the Viper simply because it did 80% of the damage the Mantis did but shot twice as fast. Even on Insanity I could take out anything besides Phantoms, Atlases, Banshees, Brutes, Geth Primes and Pyros with one shot after I quickly disintegrated their shields with Energy Drain. And I put the Piercing mod on the Phalanx so I could get rid of shield guys and Brutes faster.

I guess I'll have to use the Incisor Rifle to get that achievement quick since anything else will probably be too strong.

My MP Viper is almost to X as well and when it hits that i'm going to switch the Mantis for it, though I wouldn't mind getting a Black Widow one of these days .

Even with all the BW's weight, it's still an amazing SR with the same piercing capacity of the normal Widow. At X, the BW should weight similar to the Mantis X no?
i

I think the BW only goes up to a V in Multiplayer. But yeah I think a maxed BW would probably weigh about the same as the Mantis.

It goes all the way to X, I've seen one in a MP gold match. The guy was unstoppable with it (although he did have a N7 rating of 830s)

Damn! The amount of time you have to play to get the BW up to X is ridiculous. I think some of those top guys had to have spent a bunch of money on packs.

Soldiers kinda suck this game.

Soldiers have always been the most boring class in all three games, but they're less so in this one. Part of it is probably down to Marksman, which I like for combining with the Revenant. Makes for more dakka.

I do like their grenades, though. Grenades are great and seriously cut down on the tedium of needing to take down enemies one at a time with your guns.

I'm finding Infiltrators less entertaining in this one, but that may be because OHKO shots on shielded enemies are impossible on Insanity.

Edit:

And the Black Widow X is going to be much as much heavier as the Mantis X as the BWI is compared to the Mantis I, you silly billies.

Just resolved one of ending plot holes. Never heard this bit whilst playing the game, but it does clear things up.

Was watching a youtube clip of the part where Shepard, his/her squad and the rest of Hsmmer are rushing towards the Citadel Beam. After Harbinger slaughters them all (minus Shepard and Anderson), you see Harbinger leave and the Sword Fleet commanders panicking as no-one made it to the beam to activate the Conduit. With the mission seemingly failed, the Commanders order a retreat, telling ships head for the relays. This explains why the Normandy was in the middle of a relay jump when the Crucible went off, although not why Liara, who was with me why i was going for the Citadel beam, appear unscathed after the Normandy crashed.

That's why you give Infiltrators Energy Drain as the bonus power and watch almost everything go down in one shot after ED, even on Insanity

The BW X is indeed heavier than the Mantis X, given that the starting weight of the BW is almost as big as that of the Widow itself, but unlike the Widow, the BW has a higher weight loss per level (at least it does on the SP, as on my first playthrough I've got both on V and the BW is at least 15% lighter than the Widow, compared to the 5% lighter on I).

relays provide instantanous transport though, so there wouldn't be any travel time.

"Hailed as one of the greatest achievements of the extinct Protheans, a mass relay can transport starships instantaneously to another relay within the network, allowing for journeys that would otherwise take years or even decades with only FTL drives."

I don't see why a lot of people think that the Normandy is amongst a relay jump. Not only the jumps are immediate, they also don't blueshift the surroundings as well. If anything, the Normandy was in midst FTL flight trying to outrun that energy wave thing, as every sign in that scenes point to FTL flight and not Relay jump.

Are we not using spoiler tags anymore?

I've always found the opposite to be true. In the Mass Relay loading scences throughout the series, The Normandy approaches a Relay which catches the ship with a blue jolt of enery which then projects it onwards, with the ship envolped in the blue energy. That and the fact that on a galatic scale, it would have taken years for the wreakage of the Normandy to drift towards the planet it crashed on (I'll accept this could potentially be possible as no timescale is evident) lead me to believe that the Normandy is in the middle of a mass relay jump. However, it does establish another plot hole as the relay jumps are meant to be immediate. This is my interpretation of the ending, my brain had to do something to try and make more sense out of the mess that it was.
