in EVERY industry the competitors tend to make incremental improvements over the years and stick to the old ways since 'they always worked before'

then someone comes along and changes the industry and many of the old players refuse to change and get blown out of the water

this is nothing new

It took around 2-3 generations of iPods before the analysts would even recognize its dominance.
