The pre-launch of the Vita was available at selected retailers if I'm not mistaken. All I know is that it wasn't at Futureshop when I went last week.

Also Sony reported that the pre-launch bundle was sold out.
http://playstationlifestyle.net/2012/02/23/sony-sells-out-of-ps-vita-pre-launch-bundles/

But I don't know if that means that they shipped to retailers all the copies they produced or that it sold out at retailers. I guess next week will speak volume.

The Vita was limited for some store launch in US... the real launch (for all public) is the next week numbers.

3DS outsells vita in it's launch week again, good legs on those 3DS software too.

Why would he be trolling? It's a true statement.

Except launch week is on 22.02 ;)

That is one of the launch weeks. It doesn't matter if this was a litle exclusive or not the 3DS still outsold it, at least the PSP didn't outsell it.

There were pretty much no ads for this pre-release thing except internet hype, plus it's the more expensive console, plus it was a limited release.

As much as I like you, I wasn't expecting to read comments from you like you would be happy if Vita was doing bad. Why exactly?

OT: 3DS is not doing too good in Europe. I remember seeing DS doing 200k+ all the time in EMEAA and that was its best selling region most weeks I remember. What can Nintendo do now after the price cut? Release new colours (are they on the way?), make a 3DS lite, release a Mario 2D game.

It's not obvious? I am a Nintendo Fan, I thought you knew that. ;)

There is a lot Nintendo can do for the 3DS after the price cut. They already have released quite a few colors and plan on soon releasing (or already have) them in the West. There are already several 3DS software setup for this year and Nintendo is making quite a lot of 1st party titles. Also, the 3DS Lite won't come out this year (hopefully because they don't need it.)

Can people still buy the first edition bundle? K-mart still has those old Pokemon DSis.

I don't see any value in owning the first edition bundle. 3G launch bundle sure, it should've been the first edition bundle instead, but you have to pay for the first month of 3g to get the second month free and Super Stardust Delta. Why wait a month to own a free game? Not excatly free since you can buy it for $15 now and not waste your time with AT&T.

@Zim I agree, but everybody wants to believe it's not, so I just say it's pre-launch.

There really isn't much value in the first edition bundle. The whole point of buying one was for the "exclusive privilege" of having it a week before the general release.

It's not the worst bundle by any means, but not really a great value for $350. Little Deviants retail copy is $30, the case (arguably the best currently available), which isn't available in any other package is worth $20, and the 4GB card goes for $20 (not that anyone should be even buying the 4GB cards).

That said, those first edition bundle cases command a premium on e-bay and the remaining first edition bundles are going for as much as $500.

The 3G launch bundle is mostly about getting a 8GB card in the package. Presumably anyone buying a 3G model is at least planning on trying the service, so paying a whopping $15 for 2 months worth of data packages and a $10 download game is hardly getting "screwed over."

They're not selling for $349 anyway. I'm sure you can find a reseller selling one for that price, but they seem to be going for quite a bit more than that currently.

If I had to guess, I would say SCE maybe produced about 100k first edition bundles.

Being a Nintendo fan doesn't equal being happy about less competition. Less competition means lazyness from the leader.

Hmm yes, but PS3 is already selling more than 3DS in Europe. Mario could do the trick.

Not all fans. ;)

Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion 2, Kid Icarus, there are several other games that'll help out the 3DS.

I'm sorry but why do people keep saying the vita's sales are pre-launch? Don't be deluded. They aren't at all. The Vita was available to the public.

It was simply a soft launch. The vita was still available to anyone who wanted one. You can't use ridiculous logic such as 'This week and next week should be combined'' or talk about how it is pre-launch. Trying to figure out how something being sold is pre-launch is maddening.

Soft launch does not equal pre-launch. Pre-launch would be before it was on sale. It was on sale so can't be pre-launch. It can only be pre-hard launch.

There was only one option to choose the 350$ 3G bundle thats why its a pre launch, next week numbers are all the Vita versions and bundles lets just wait and see.

None of those will help long term in Europe, but Animal Crossing might for a few weeks. I do wonder how DS managed such insane numbers in Europe though, 3DS numbers seem more normal lol

Animal Crossing could have very good legs in Europe. It will also do very good in America and Japan. The DS managed to sell really well in Europe because it was really new, the 3DS is kind of like the PS2 to the PS3. The PS2 was already good the PS3 just had some multi-media added and better graphics. That is kind of what the 3DS is like, the 3DS will really pick up in all regions though during the holiday. The 3DS seems to be the Holiday Boss.

The next iteration of Pokemon will move over a million hardware units alone.

But Maro Kart and Mario 3D were the two biggest boosters paired with the price drop. That's not something that can be repeated every year.

We'll see more bundles and more colors, but neither will really light sales on fire the way major soft releases will. While a redesign encorporating the 2nd circle pad should be done sooner than later, I'm not convinced that would result in massive sales since most games are designed to work without it anyway. It'll probably be at least another year before we see a redesign.

Not all fans. All I really want is for Microsoft to fade out of exsitence (which their XBox line seems like it is already doing) and for Sony to only make Home Consoles.

Casual games - Nintendogs, Brain training, imagine ...

Everything that now can be received for 1 euro on android/ios market
