I think that does the trick, it's also an invalid argument on other levels, my point is an analysis of the situation, yours is an analysis of yourself. On other levels - there are many people who don't think it is acceptable to have to carry around an iPad and a dedicated gaming device at the same time. To add to that :) I'm not even concerened with if your argument is right or wrong, because it misses the point entirely about the decision being up to the consumer in the first place, you have single handedly taken the option away from the consumer simply because from anecdotal (i assume?) experience of you seeing people carrying an ipad and a dedicated gaming device. Were these people offered the choice of having the gaming device intergrated into the ipad? No, they were not. Obviously they would have taken it if it were an option but they weren't so your argument is invalid. Were these people offered the choice, only to have it withdrawn? No, but in this case they are, there was reasonable assumption from numerous comments that this was going to be a global offering from Sony, and who would think it wouldn't be? Implimenting such a feature in one region if it's already in another is hardly a costly exercise relatively speaking. Although I'm being drawn into the argument here, there is no argument, it was promised. It was not delivered. You see where I'm coming from, and that's only about carrying an iPad and a dedicated gaming device. OK i got a bit ranty in the last paragraph and use way too many commas, but heyho. |
The comparison to the IPAD was with regards to size and size alone. I'm against people who compare the features of phones/Tabkets and handhelds but if we want to do that, might as well go the whole hog, people complain about the size of the vita but no one complains about the size of tablets. I chose the IPAD because it was the first one that came to mind, not because I have anything against it.
Yes people complain about the bait and switch and rightfully so, but I was asking was it really necessary in the first place? My ps2/3 story as you say is from personal experience, I told that story because it applied to the point I was trying to make.
Now again, my opinions are based on personal experiences and that's all I can base things on, (I should point out that you've used that same strategy to prove your point.) I maintain that people who complain that they can't play their psp UMDs on their vita don't-
1: Don't play more than one game at the same time. Me- when I play games, I choose one and stick to it until either
A: I'm done with it
B: I'm bored with it then move on to something else.
C: The idea of swapping games after every 2mins is weird to me, I don't get it.
2: How long a journey are people making that they need to carry their entire game collection to play? Not only for the Vita, but for the PSP as well? I like games but surely not enough to carry all of them where ever I go to.
3: Lastly, I've said this a million times, I'll say it once more. I don't get the idea of buy a new console just to play your old games. surely the aim of buying a new console is to sample the new games it has to offer?
IMO buying a new console to replay your old games is a waste of money.
A: If you still have games on the old console to play and want to play then you clearly aren't ready to move on to pastures new. Finish with the old console and games then make the move forward.
B: Additionally, it's not like the Vita doesn't have any games to play. If you are buying a Vita, you have AR cards, Near, demos, Vita games from the SEN, SEN PSP downloads you already own, PSOne games you already own, PSMinis games you already own and that's not mentioning the 15+ games that are already available in stores.
In my opinion that's a lot of stuff for something that's fresh out of the box. If that isn't enough for you because all you want to do is play your UMDs then you clearly don't NEED a brand new console.
4: Just a quick reminder that the moment you get a Vita or whatever, your PSP doesn't just die, vanish, disappear, cease to exist. It's still there, you can still play it. You have this amazing Piece of Kit in the shape of the Vita that clearly offers a thousand and one things to do, you are instead wondering why you can't play your UMD copy of Dissidia for example or whatever else is in your UMD collection. If you really want to play the UMD of Dissidia on the bus to work/school...here's an idea, pick up your fully functioning PSP and play it on that and forgo the Vita until whenever you are good and ready to relinquish your ties to the PSP.
