During an interview with Geoff Keighley last week, Sony’s SVP of Brand Marketing confirmed that Call of Duty will be coming to the Vita later this fall. He also stated that all of Sony’s studios will be making “a number of games” for the Vita. While that might be true for Sony’s other studios, Naughty Dog has since then stated otherwise.
In a response to a thread made on NeoGaf, Arne Meyer, Naughty Dog’s Community Strategist, had this to say:
We’re not working on anything for PS Vita. I won’t say never, ever, but there’s no plans for it right now – we’ve always felt that consoles play to our strengths as a studio the best.
Given the brackets (to indicate an implication on the part of the quote) I’m sure this was a misunderstanding to the question that was being posed.
As disappointing as this may be for some Vita owners looking to enjoy Naughty Dog’s creativity on the go, Arne does point out that, although no plans have been made thus far, Naughty Dog could still make a Vita title.
With The Last of Us launching later this year, and Uncharted 3 still churning out DLC, Naughty Dog’s two studios do have a lot on their plate, so if they do decide to work on a Vita game, it might be a while before we hear word of it.
