i have a question for the doubters:

when wii hits 45million ltd by 12/31/08, will u only predict 55mil for 12/31/09? or will u finally realize that the non-gamer market is 10x that of the gamer market, so wii can hit historic levels of sales?

first game my sis-in-law rented, along with ea playground for her 4yr old

she never played my bro-in-law's ps2 or any other console

It's possible the Wii could maintain the momentum it's had however the casual market isn't as predictable as the "hardcore" market , you can almost guarantee GTA's Final Fantasy's will sell in millions .

The thing about casual gamers is that they're not loyal to any one device or brand , they'll switch to the next big thing w/o hesitation. You'll notice in any market experience growth like the "casual gamers" market the Wii is almost guaranteed to face new competition which will take away from it's market share.

Edit : I could give in to Wii selling around 35 mill this year with sufficient reasoning however 105 Mill by the end of it's gen. You can quote me on this when I say it's impossible for the Wii to achieve PS2 sales, the PS2 grabbed the majority of every gaming market Hardcore and casual alike for the majority of it's lifespan .

they don't want the wii because it's "the next big thing"

they want the wii because of its motion controls

my bro-in-law said he wouldn't buy a console until his son was 8years old 6 months ago

then when he saw his 4yr old could bowl a 140 in wii bowling, he bought him one for xmas; now he uses it as much as the son and his wife uses it for cooking mama and other 'casual games'

if wii only  hits 33mil by 12/31/08, then i would obviously lower my predictions

 but as long as wii continues to sell out, u can't predict that it has reached exactly its demand point...so predicting that it will only sell 13.5mil after selling 15.5 mil is not prudent

 someday u will wake up and realize that you are not the average consumer...u are a 'gamer' which is maybe 11% of the population...so what u think are the best games may not be what sell the best

ps2 grabbed the majority of gaming market and semi-gamers market

 it didn't reach the CASUALS like the ds and wii do (2 fastest selling systems ever)

there weren't ps2s in retirement homes, rehab centers, or gyms, nor were housewives playing during the day

the average age of wii owner is 29 years old and i believe roughly 50% of wii owners are females

the ps2 couldn't boast such stats

the market is just SO MUCH larger for wii than it ever was for ps2

i have met countless people who haven't owned a console ever or not since snes/genesis days that have bought a wii...

Like I said before, for the Wii to only sell 33M by next year's end would obviously mean that the demand would go down which is what I am predicting. If I am wrong and demand doesn't lower and actually raises then I the Wii could reach 40M next year pretty easily.
