Yeah a fair few do actually, Castle Crashers, Limbo and Braid did over 1 mill alone on XBLA, and that's off the top of my head.

Sorry but no

Braid didn't get close to 1 million on XBLA  http://gamasutra.com/view/news/39713/Xbox_Live_Arcade_by_the_numbers__the_2011_year_in_review.php only 463k entries on the leaderboard. Also you can see Splosion man is at 487k and Limbo is 892k. Castle crashers has over 2.5 million but multiplayer means one copy can have multiple entries on the leaderboard and isn't a platformer anyway. And in fact those numbers may be inflated because the games can be played using multiple accounts if the game is on the origonal console if I am not mistaken.

Under half of Super Meat Boy's sales were on XBLA before the humble indie budle pushed it over a million with 345k copies, and as you can see from the gamasutra article is only in fact at 250k on XBLA.

So yea no platformer has crossed 1 million on XBLA unless you count Trials HD

But there is no gaurantee that everyone who has that game will even log on to the leaderboards?? I have Braid myself and I never put my stuff up on Leaderboards

true but the numbers line up for games that have had sales numbers released, Castle crashers sold over 2 million and there are 2.5 million on the leader board, more than half of Super Meat Boy's sales were on PC after a few months of being released on steam the humble bundle which sold 350k which pushed it over a million which would mean there were  less than 650k sales total on both platforms whitch lines up with the ~250k number for XBLA. The fact that in theory multiple accounts could use a single copy of the game as long as they are played on the console that brought the game should make up for the people that aren't added to the leaderboard.

I very much doubt that more than 50% of players are not on the leaderboard so none of the games other than Limbo have any chance at a million. And the fact that Limbo had a million copies sold over 3 platforms lines up with the Gamasutra numbers anyway with almost 900k which would mean that Limbo only sold ~100k on PC and PSN combined for such a late port that seems about right if not a tad low.

The lack of RPGs is depressing.

Do the same comparison including the DS

thats just my point, you cant really say that Wii is diverse in the open world category, same as fighting genre, Godfather was released on HDs by the way

i don't say Wii wins the figher, it depends on taste, for SSBB fans it sure could, as well as the racing for Mario Kart fans (which are a lot of them)

i think it is more diverse

Wii is sports/party/dance based, HD is shooter based

but HD is more shooter based than Wii is party/sports based

if you count the numbers of titles released for each genre on each platform (DeduS post, regardless if they sold or not), Wii wins in 7 genres, Xbox360 in 3 and Ps3 in 2

and the only genres Wii is losing with a difference is RPG and Shooter, and wins with a difference the obvious ones as well as platformer, puzzle and simulation, from this point of view Wii has more choices per genre, regardless if Wii owners take advantage of this or not, which is why Wii lost almost all 3rd party support in 2011/2012

Wrong, if we are talking more choices per genre, that means you have to count games available, NOT sales. fighting, RPGS(Western, strategy, Japanese), FPS, 3rd person shooters, sandbox, racing(simulation, arcade, kart), sports(arcade,Sim) thats 6 genres right there that HDs have more titles than Wii does.  I would love to see where you're getting these 7 genres from, name them. Name me 7 genres where Wii has more more games than the comp.  Ill give you party, exercise and minigame compilations, and platformers, just to get you started

i was referring to DeduS post:

I used the VGC numbers as of right now. All games in the VGC database (with their assigned genre) above 10k sales are included.

Have fun arguing which library is more varied! :D

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Inaccurate, where are the PSN/LIVE/WiiWare games?? XBOX has way more platformers than that, if you count LIVE which i dont see why you wouldnt.
