How can you justify 400k as worth their time??? Do you really think they will be happy with 400k sales with a user base of over 60 million? There is a sales gap of approximately 3 million between the 360 and the ps3 versions of the same final fantasy XIII game. That is a massive gap for such a hyped and well known franchise. |
Will you be saying this when Mass Effect 3 (360) rapes the Ps3 version?
Porting is a fairly cheap, they may not be thrilled because of the potential that is there, but it's hard to argue that they would actually regret it. Plus Seece was being way too generous with the 400k/500k estimates.
Still trying to understand if all SW is up or just the US and UK
Final Fantasy 13-2:
PS3: 87.1% market share
360: 19.2% market share
Damn that hurts. Square Enix are you watching (re beginning of the generation where all great JRPGs went on 360 [Infinite Undiscovery, Last Remnant, Star Ocean Last Hope).
Software sales down everywhere; obviously after the holidays but I feel that this generation has peaked for software (people beginning to ignore new IPs and games)

Not a good comparisson in the slightest. Mass effect 2 (ps3) released nearly exactly a year after the 360 version and still managed to sell about a million copies. For a port of a year old game, it sold quite well. Final fantasy XIII-2 launched simultaneaously on both platforms.
Mass effect 3 will obviously sell more on the 360 but 3 million more......never.

Think you got a little too carried away with the Mass Effect comment, the meaning was more that I think you are letting your personal bias cloud your judgement on this one.
I don't know what arbritray milestones you have set up, but at the end of the day, Square-Enix will not be complaining about hundreds of thousands (potential a million) extra sales for such little work. That's really all it comes down to.
Exactly what I predicted for FFXIII-2! I was pretty sure the pre-orders were overtracked and I knew it would not beat FFXIII first week but I think those numbers are really good. I hope it can have better legs.

This makes no sense at all considering it's launched only around 200-300K beneath FFXIII which is expected for a FF sequel. If XIII-2 proves anything then its that FF is far from dead. |
The damage is done.

Lifetime 360 sales > Lifetime PS3 sales.
But lets not get sidetracked. I know its hard to see 3ds giving the Vita such a beating :)
