TVs these days: the 2012 collection of LG tellies will come with a motion-sensing Magic Motion Remote and the ability to play Unity-powered games.

One of those games is Madfinger's chunky third-person shooter Shadowgun. It's not quite Gears of War, but from a distance, and if you squint... Oh the things technology can do today.

Bright and colourful family-friendly gameFrisbee Forever is on-board as well.

Sang-Woo Lee, LG TV bigwig, talked of there being a "huge catalogue" of Unity-made games added to the LG TV line-up, but didn't specify further.

"We want our TVs to be the most comprehensive platform for entertainment on the market," he commented, "and having access to such an impressive array of games helps make that happen."

The point being: you don't need a separate console.

I don`t think it`s the end, but it probably change a little bit how people perceive gaming with a television. Nowdays, people who want to do that buy a console for that, if things get to advanced on that field, this might become a new competitor.

Still, most people think consoles = gaming on TV and i don`t see that changing anytime soon. In the end, it will always be about the games.

yeah just like handhelds will die after the IPhone release...man 3DS is doing sooo bad now where the IPhone games are out...Nintendo should just leave the handheld market...its over now -.-

Sony/MS/Nintendo's games are too involved now, this would only mean that home consoles will be TV's with an extra cost, the ability to play games

same for handhelds, if iphone games ever get out of control, Sony/MS/Nintendo will simply add phone and app store on their handhelds, they'll be more expensive but i don't believe the end of handhelds or home consoles will ever come as long as consumers like exclusive games like Mario, Pokemon, God Of War etc

Holy fuck... They were wrong about hand helds dying so they had to move onto consoles. Well, I already seen a few end of consoles before this article. Anyone that writes these stories doesn't know shit about the video game market.  Sorry for the pointless bitching but I am sick of this shit.  I'll just avoid any thread that involves a dumb ass video game article.  Looks like I won't be commenting much on articles.
