And what are they going to do? Let it chill there until it dies? Besides, the source is unclear as to if the shark was already dead or unconcious (in which case it would die anyways). They can't "move" it back into the sea because of their lack in resources and of how massive it is. And the blood I think is from them trying to harness it with the cranes.
