Forums - Gaming - The Wonderful Curse of the Darksign

This Christmas, like so many other Christmases, I was tasked with the duty to write down a list of games I wanted the "man with the white beard" to bring me. I decided to play it "safe", only writing down the guaranteed AAA games that were coming out. Skyward Sword? Check. Skyrim? Check. Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7? Double check. But then, I decided to take a chance on a new game I heard about. I heard the game had crushing difficulty, and that it was even harder than the previous game, a game in which I never played. I really didn't know too much about this game, only going on word-of-mouth and praise of the last game in the series. So come Christmas day, I had my "AAA-list" all wrapped up in nice smelling red paper. Then I get to the game I decided to take a chance on, and ladies and gents, that game would be Dark Souls.

I decided to try this game last in the list of the games I received. I played a little of Skyward Sword, Mario Kart and 3D Land, and a whole lot of Skyrim. But then, I popped in Dark Souls, and since then the game has rarely came out of the disc-tray. I have never played a game that was this challenging, yet extremely rewarding, in a very long time. The world of Dark Souls is quite an amazing journey, and one that I still continue to travel. The world is captivating, and is dripping with untold secrects and hidden stories. Every location is one big, beautiful mountian, with each step of the ascent perilous and frought with danger. Yet, once you are able to find a foot hold, and able to keep your grip despite the odds, is precisely where Dark Souls has taken me . Where most games take great pre-cautions to make sure you don't die, Dark Souls makes sure you do. Yet, when you're able to overcome each mountian the game throws your way, no game this generation can match that experience.

Dark Souls is an quite an journey. The world of Lordran is one full of mystery and unwavering challange. Those who dare brand themselves with the curse of The Darksign will find themselves in the admist of an adventure that is like any other.

I don't know why people tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer, I have lots of lives!
