Forums - General - New consoles for old cartridges

You know those "20 in 1" classic gaming joysticks/emulators that you can buy in Wal-Mart? Screw them. The real deal is the Retro Duo and Gen X from importers Innex. The former is a tiny console that accepts NES and SNES cartridges, which the latter takes Sega Master System and Genesis/Mega Drive slabs.

It's retrogaming for those who never threw away their collections, even when the machine that played them was done and dusted: "It's for people who still have the games in the garage," says Ron Pang, a sales manager at Innex.

I've got no idea why these guys can just sell multisystem clones of old consoles (Innex says that the systems they carry are based on lapsed patents) but I'm happy they do. It's certainly more "legal" than downloading ROMS and old tape images and what-have-you. How about an all-in-one featuring every system up to the post-16-bit era? The history of an industry, of entire generations of computer entertainment, embodied in a single mass-produced box out of Asia.

These are nice but no S-Video on the SNES is not good for me. My Launch SNES from 93 is still doing fine. I may be interested in the Genesis one, though I have an XEYE.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

No use to me, but still pretty cool.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

FTR - I *played* SMB and Duck Hunt on my projector at 10'. All I will say is "YUCK." Old-skool gaming and big screen setups DON'T MIX!

I've got an FC-Twin. The sound on NES games isn't perfect, but it's close enough. Also, some Super-FX games do not work properly. Besides that, I've been happy with it.
