Forums - General - Anyone sell on Amazon Marketplace in Canada?

Hey, so I started a small business on Amazon Marketplace in Canada. I just have one question to anyone else that does this. HOW do you stay afloat with Canada Post's OUTRAGEOUS rates? I bought a copy of Goldeneye 007 for N64 for $2. Cleaned it. Sold it for $15! Sounds great right? Wrong. Canada Post charges me $14.52 to ship it, and that's their slowest service too. If anyone on VGC sells on Amazon Canada, please let me know your secret! Cause I'm gonna be out of business with a huge pile of games I don't want sitting in a box in my kitchen very very soon.

I have the same problem.... The lady at Canada post told me to send the games through letter mail to save money... I don't think many gamers would like that though...

Playstation All-Stars is one of the best games I've played this gen, and is the most fun I've had in a game this gen.

Can you actually request that? I thought if it's over a certain size it has to be considered a parcel. The problem with Canada Post seems to be that they don't have different rates for small packages. It's either considered a letter or a box. A 0.1KG bubble mailer costs the same to ship as a 5KG box almost. As long as the games wrapped in bubble wrap, I don't see it getting damaged in letter mail. I'm gonna try that next time and see if they let me do that.

What about UPS or Fedex?

Are you shipping to the US or just in Canada. It's probably cheaper to only sell to Canadian residents. You should also consider switching to ebay. Amazon takes a larger cut of your profit than Ebay so long as you stick with simple auctions.

I don't know much about the Canadia post, but I've shipped to Canada and to Europe and the US post office always has great rates.

Used to buy from Ebay, got my games thru normal mail delivery of Canada Post.

Other carriers will get things there in half the time, but charge about the same as Canada Post. I'm more focused on getting the price down. I have no problem with Amazon's commission structure. They offer an amazing service. It's the shipping fees that are killing me.

I'm almost sure that's how gameaccess does it.  http://gameaccess.ca/

Hmmmm.. is that so. I'll have to try that next time I make a sale. I might try using a different post office too. This lady might have just been a bitch.

Sounds about right ;)

Yea, you probably just got piss poor customer service. You either get people that go above and beyond with customer service or you get someone that pretty much spits in your face. I'd try a different post office trying to ship it through the regular mail. The regular mail is how I receive my games when ordering from Amazon in US. They all come in little sleeve pouches put into my regular apt. mailbox.
