Forums - Sony - Sony Patents Controller Like Wii U.....Sony Looking Over Nintendo's Shoulder Again!

Sigh, since when did Sony copy Nintendo?

The original Sony patent is from 2009

http://www.ubergizmo.com/2011/09/2009-sony-patent-reveals-nintendo-wii-u-similarities/

So it seems actually Nintendo copying Sony.

How in God's name have you not noticed the infamous PS Move?

OT: It doesn't matter who actually copied who. Just like last/this gen Nintendo release their stuff first so in the public eyes Sony will be the copying guys. And this is just a frickin' patent so it might be completely ignored anyways, just like Nintendo patented the "Wii Play U" name. LOL

Sony isn't looking over Nintendo's shoulder on this. PSP was doing remote play before the Wii U was a concept and The PS Vita will be out before the Wii U hits and Sony could apply the Wii U controller idea to the Vita/PS3.

I'm tired of seeing people claim Sony doesn't innovate. Sony is never given the credit for doing something different.

I know right lol, up untill PS3s arrival Sony was known as the industry's innovator, then with all the PS3 bashing from the media and Sony revealing the Move people started crying about Sony copying Nintendo. Even the Move concept was shown a decade ago:

Sony invented the dual analog

Sony invented the Move/Wiimote and now the WiiU/Vita+PS3 concept

Meh, Sony have patents for everything from breathing to golems to time machines so this isn't surprising.

It appears Sony is up to their usual tricks again, copying Nintendo.

So now I guess we just have to sit back and hear how the PS4 controller is "innovative"and how Nintendo somehow copied it. Much like the whole "Nintendo copied Eye Toy"

Is it me or is Sony just running out of ideas.

The patent was filed 2010 so it seems more likely it's one of no doubt many defensive/explorative patents companies like Sony file all the time.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Man Sony better not release a tablet controller I would freak it would come in 2013 winter. Though I don't know it would be a little difficult for Sony to rip off the tablet and incorporate it into PS4 within a year. Nintendo is keeping a lot secret this would give Sony a year to create hardware and software capable of competing.

I also don't think this will benefit Sony. Their hardware will be more powerful then WiiU by the time PS4 comes it would cost 400$ or more at retail while Nintendo could offer WiiU for 250$ if necessary. Sony would have a huge fight and much like PSP and Move I can't see Sony over taking Nintendo in a direct fight.

First off don't call me bud.....bud! Are you not aware that Nintendo was beginning planning stages of Wii U since 2008? These are called FACTS. So you roll it back to 2010, and I roll it back to 2008. Seeing as Nintendo has been planning Wii U for 2 years prior, there is absolutley noting wrong with my claim.

"journalistic integrity"? this isn't Harvard man seriously.
